What psi u guys runing on pump gas and what mods you guys have with the evo3 turbo?

Also what PSI is safe to run on pump gas and whats the MAX that turbo can boost on race gas?

21psi, no knock, 93octane - could probably go a little higher but will be pulling motor to fix crank play.

dsmlink
650 fic's
255hp fuel pump (stock fuel system)
fmic 2.25 pipe upper & lower
all other basic mods...

never been tried on race gas...

Based on the mods in your profile, I wouldn't push it past 15psi without a 190 fuel pump. I ran my evo III to 17psi with no knock on a 190, 9:1 compression, FMIC, and stock injectors (before I got 650s), but I couldn't go past 13 psi without the pump.

21 psi, 680cc, walbro 190, safc2, wbo2, pocketlogger. it's not about how much. every car is different. as long as you have no knock, ## a/f ratio is good and no timing is being pulled you can or could run more....it's all in the tuning. if i had some arp hardware and a diff headgasket i'd probably run more becuz i feel like i'm not getting the full potential of the e316g yet.

I ran 28psi on 560cc's with that turbo for over a year back then. That was on 110 octane. The car had upgraded fuel pump, SAFC, and simple bolt-ons.

I don't have an EVO III, but I do have a FP B16G. I am running 20 pounds on the stock SMIC, 550's, SAFC II and a 255HP with no problems besides leaky TB shaft seals.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Big 16G - 26psi on stock head bolts and gasket, 180 compression across and an 11.7:1 A/F on 19 degrees of timing (pump) and 23 (race/pump mix). No boost leaks and no issues. Other mods are in my profile.

Do any of you guys have your E316g clipped? Who ran it with the stock sidemount and how much boost could it handle before it would heatsoak? I used to run a big 16g clipped with 510's, a logger,255hp. I ran 18 psi and that was all I could get. This was on 93 gas. I pushed it to 19 and 20 psi but the car was faster at 18 since it would pull timing.

Stock sidemount :notgood: When I first got the evoIII I ran it with the HRC SMIC, which is alot bigger & flows more then the factory. I ran 18 psi & I thought it was doing an alright job till I got my FMIC. With the smic I would see knock on & off by 3rd or 4th. Switched to the fmic always zero knock through 5th and the car pulls alot harder, also was able to add a few degress of timing from 6000 up :thumb:

My engine is currently being rebuilt, but when it is up and running again i plan on running 24-26psi on 93oct al day long. My mods are going to be 255lph, stage 2 race motor, buschur FMIC, Apexi O2 back, VPE O2 housing, Tial 38mm and BOV, Maybe and extrude honed intake, hks 272's, and DSMLink. May use a gm maf not sure yet.

I wish that I could set my boost to where I wanted it on my evo3. I hate boost creep, I even get it with it being ported and a 34mm flapper, and O2 dump.

Just wondering if you guys see less creep at 18-22psi...Since you all seem to be running at that boost level, yet if you see other threads about people running low boost on evoIII's, it's one big thread about their problems with creep and how it sucks, blah blah

You guys seem to be on the other spectrum of e3b16g owners..

When I ran it, I had no problems w/ 27psi except around 6500 RPMS, the boost would fall the 25psi. Normal for this sized turbo though.

I had ran almost this same setup on my 93 TSi, only difference was I had a blow-thru GM MAF and translator instead of DSMlink. 21psi MAX for me on 94oct pump.

Current mods are in the profile, but I run 21lbs. daily...creep to 29, I like the setup though. Except for my damn creep problem :-/
