I know its not possible but I hope the 7 bolt cranks start walking on them... damn Evo kids. :D haha. JUST KIDDING.

:dsm:

We should head over to the evo forums and bargin our cranks for their 'stock performance upgrade' parts for our cars...hmmm

people on evom price everything really really high. personally i price it low so i can guarantee a sale. maybe that is also because i came from dsms so i love cheap used stuff. :sneaky:

On what website??
evolutionm.net & socalevo.net are the two sites I frequent. Just post a WTB ad on them and tell them straight up what price your willing to spend. Evo owners get offended if they think your low balling them so if you post a price in your WTB then they already know what your gonna pay.

Like I said in the last thread you posted in... I posted a WTB Evo VIII/IX springs for $65 and had 4 PM's that DAY and one guy said he'd donate them, another said $35 shipped. I'm assuming they just toss them in the garage and can't get rid of them so they sell them for cheap.

:dsm:

So you don't have to spend 4 hours searching using your phones 3G network, heres a few things I know of.

Engine:
Pistons, rods, & only the valve train from an evo VIII since the IX's have MIVEC.
Other stuff:
Evo IX bov, MAF, brembo brakes (with JDM galant front knuckles), wheels, & shift knob. I know with some imagination you can run their seats as well but ILLiCliPSE has the only dsm I've ever seen with them. I've been trying to get a set of just the front Evo IX Recaro's for about a year now for less than $600 and the guy's selling them laugh at me for low balling them.
Here's a pic.

Really I'm not sure what model Evo your talking about so if your asking about ANY Evo then...
Evo I-III turbo, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, o2 sensor housing, and the motor. (its a 7-bolt too)

:dsm:

Those are hot as ####. If you never find them for your asking price then you can let your kid ride in style in your car :hellyeah:. Recaro Vivo High Back Booster Car Seat - Crimson

I hate dealing with EVO guys. A lot of them are absolute morons.

Get offended for offering $600.00 for their stock seats, because they believe their stock seats are worth the same as the new seats they just bought (logic? none.).

Then when you want to sell to them, they think everything is overpriced.

I had legit HKS 272/272 combo for Evo VIII. I was told I was insane for wanting $400.00 for them, they were only worth 250.00. Go buy BC's you cheap bastards or spend 600.00 for a new set, found a good Evo guy locally who was more than happy to spend 400.00 for them.

I know this thread is little old but a thread specific to what parts from any Evo III-X that can be used on a 2G should be made to alleviate some frequently asked questions ;)

I'm much more concerned with work and things that I have going on this deployment to put in the time and effort to make the tech article. I'm just throwing it out their as "food for thought," that's all.

On the other hand, IF I have enough time in the following weeks I might consider putting it together.

Just to clear some more of these up you can run the pistons, rods, and springs/retainers from an Evo IX.

Also, From the sounds of it, some people are thinking that the Evo 8 or 9 rods are better than our 7 bolt rods. To clear things up they are almost identical. In fact, size wise they are identical. The Evo rod has one little bump in the casting on the side of the rod that makes it easy to tell the difference.

DSM Graveyard has both of them, but I cant use their Pictures, so ill throw up the links to each.

Evo 8/9

7 Bolt

That should clear things up a bit. Although to buy them brand new the Evo rods are actually $40 cheaper a set. But who does that anyways?

To add just a little bit more to that, you CAN NOT use Evo VIII or IX spring seats on a DSM head.:thumb:
...I must be running an Evo head then on my 7-bolt, why do you say you can't run the spring seats?

gstjosh is right, I'm not sure what I was smoking when I said "you can't use that stuff out of an Evo IX because its MIVEC", none of it has to do with it. The IX pistons are partially forged with an offset wrist pin, the rods are identical to a 7-bolt, and I'm running a full Evo IX valve train and revving to 8k. Evo's IX have a 8.8:1 CR however, the head/headgasket aren't the same as the 7-bolt 2g engines, so by running them on a 7-bolt your CR will be lower than stock.

Maybe my searching skills are lacking severely, but I'm having a hard time finding something a bit more comprehensive as to what evo parts can be used where. I've been looking around for a good hour.... I'm hoping to modify a 1g, and knowing what parts and reviews I can compare would be remarkably useful. Almost everything I've found so far refers to 2g, as well. Can anybody maybe point me to what I'm missing?
