I'm station in the U.K. ( england ) and my 7 bolt is starting to walk. I was thinking geting and EVO III engine since i'm in the U.K. and it will be much easier for me to get one instead an 6 bolt and don;t have to paid the high cost shipping from the U.S. so whats the difference on the EVO III engines from the 6 Bolt. I would like to know the informations between the 6 bolt and the EVO III and i know all EVO engines are 7 bolt motors and they fit in a 2gen FWD. does the Evo III have lower compression, better internal and what do they have, bigger turbo, injectors, ....etc.

as far as i recall they are the same as the 7bolt motor, but comes with a bigger turbo. I cant recall if the injectors where bigger or not. I was thinking of doing the same, but i got a 6 bolt and might order the 6 bolt conversion flex plate for my automatic.

I believe the injectors are 560cc, may want to check that. I had some from an evo that were 560cc, but can't remember which evo.

I got this from Roadrace:

"EVO Motors: The valve covers of the EVO 1-3 motors will be a kind of titanium color. They are the same as a US 2G motor with nothing fancy. They have the smaller 2G style intake ports, a small runner intake manifold with a larger plenum and a larger throttle body than a 2G motor. Still they are hard to find. Many are from other 4G63 powered cars and can have small 13G sized turbos. They will not bolt into a 1G because there are no provisions for the front roll stopper motor mounts that bolt to the block. Everything in Japan from 94 and up has the front and rear roll stopper motor mounts on the transmission 2G Eclipse style. Many people are running around yapping about how they have an EVO motor in their car. If it bolts into a 1G, it isn't an EVO motor."

I think I remember reading something about larger cams in the Evo III motor. I believe I read somewhere that they bigger than 1g cams  . You'll also have better port velocity because of the smaller intake ports with larger plenum manifold (60mm instead of 52mm) helping spool up.

Also if you don’t have any mods yet, you get the Evo 16g w/ manifold & O2 housing, and 510cc injectors (maybe 560’s). That saves you almost a grand in bolt ons! I say go for the Evo III if you can get a good deal. But it could still run the risk of crankwalk even though you FWD so that limits it a bit. Good luck!
