i just finished my slowboy evo III b16G [ ported 34mm flapper ] install and its awesome :thumb: i only went for a spin around the block because i just found out that my oil return line is leaking :rolleyes: greeeeeeeeeat.

for 12 psi though it's awesome... the lag is a little more than the ol' t2small but that's a given. and the best part is this biatch pulls all the way to redline !!! the total install time [ ACTUALLY labor, not running around like a madman for bolts/gaskets/fluids ] was around 4 hours.. the install is EASY. all i did was PB blast the bolts a couple nights before hand and all the studs and what not came out easily.

To make things a little easier i bought the slowboy 2g install kit. which included a whole SS oil feed line. i was worried because i didn't know if i needed the stock line [ which you dont ] but i cut that biatch off and bolted the line on fine.

i can't wait to turn it up to 16 psi [ once the return line problem is fixed ].

cliffnotes: installed in 4 hours and its DAMN worth it :thumb:
 
:thumb: Sweeet! I am planning for my dual Evo 16G setup and it is always nice to hear some good reviews. Keep us posted on times and when you up the boost!!
 
Yeah I never want to lose to a BPU supra from a roll again!! ;) The only thing I am kinda of worried about is spool time. If you guys are getting spool at 3500 rpms on the 2.0L , its gonna take me at least 4000 RPMs. But the ported & polished heads and higher compression should help as well as playing with the timing and stuff.

I know the Evo 16g is a potent turbo on the DSM platform and every good review I see instills more confidence in me! :thumb:
 
doood if its for the RTTT just go twin DR650's bwahah .. you know those are proven turbos :thumb:

dunno what to say if it's for the talon.

oh yea.. word of advise to those who are considering hacking the oil return line... if you do.. use the appropriate size [ larger than 5/8":rolleyes: ] and dont clamp it too tight.. i found this out the hard way after i bent the shit out of the aluminum POS... now the car is down again for another 3-4 days while i wait for one to come from mitsu graveyard

she's running fine though!
 
DR650s are proven.....but I want something different and want to get away from the TD04 based housing as I think it is the weak point on the 3/S. The T3/T4 kits from Dynamic sound interesting but they are 5k+ OMG.

Do you notice any boost creep? Is the 34mm flapper the only thing you have done to help out with this common problem?
 
Hey you bought the install kit from SBR right? did it come with the 2 bolts that holds down the Jpipe and the return oil line gaskets? The one my friend bought didn't come with any of these... that sucked it wasn't a complete kit.
 
gabe - i got it ported from slowboy

eclipse GST - i dont think you can have the spool up RPM adjusted.. it's just the nature of the turbo.

get a bt28killer for 16G power and quick spool up or get the evo 16G for the power and topend. :thumb:

doodie - yes my kit came with the 2 hex nut bolts that holds down the jpipe/turbo.. i also used a little RTV cause it didn't come with a gasket. i also only got one oil return line gasket and i'm also using RTV on the other end [ no gasket side ]
 
oh and eclipseGST.. the only way i've heard of delaying the spool up time is clipping the turbo. which i heard was pretty much useless on the 16G, not to mention slightly detrimental [ wearing issues :confused: ]

plus a little more lag is good cause the GST/tsi can't handle that much boost in 1-2 gear. i can break my wheels loose pretty easily now[ have to readjust driving technique ]
