ok heres the deal i want to make some thing rwd drift car possibly.

i found a great deal on a 6bolt and i found a dude that makes bell housing for a 4g63 and a w55 trans. it might work with the w58 trans to i dont know yet trying to find out.

so i would like to put a 6 bolt in with a evo head with the mivec and get a evo ecu n harness ect.

will that head fit on the 6 bolt is what im trying to find out? thanks

It will take some work but the biggest problem is that fact that the EVO cams are facing the wrong way on the head to bolt up to the 6-bolt. Why not just use the comlpete EVO motor, if it is because of the supposed crankwalk issue the EVO motors didn't have the same problem as the DSM 7-bolts.

evos get crankwalk but im trying to get a wrx n put a 6 bolt in and a evo head on it make it rwd. but all i need to know is if it will bolt up the the motor. i have 7 bolt arp head studs will that work with that set up.

You could use an evo motor but not an evo head.

The entire head is mirrored from the orientation of a 6bolt block which means that you can't put a timing belt on it even if it would bolt on (it wouldn't). Besides, an evo head isn't incredibly different from a 2g head, why not just bolt on a 2g head with an evo exhaust manifold if you want twin scroll evo style turbos? Then bolt on an evo3 intake manifold for an evo style intake?

Also your fear of crankwalk is incredibly overrated and silly.

ok thank you know why wont it are the head bolts in the wrong spot

if your saying because the intake n exhaust are in the wrong place i don't care because the engine will be sitting like a v8

or an evo motor... but yes you can use either a 1st gen or 2nd gen head on a 6bolt motor. You can also use an evo exhaust manifold on either of those heads for twin scroll goodness but you can only use an evo3 intake manifold on a 2g head. With a 1g head you will have to use a 1g intake manifold.

The reason that you normally can't use an evo exhaust manifold and twin scroll turbos is because there isn't enough room in a DSM for a mirrored MAF setup and the position of the turbo. If you have plenty of room for it you might as well go with the evo exhaust manifold and turbo setup.

ok thats what i wanted to use too. but i want a evo head ### it will look cleaner. and if i can get the mivec head too.

but im still think that the evo head will fit. in evos there just turned in the other direction. i know that evo 4g63 and 7 bolts are the same i took them apart.

if i put the evo head on witch will pic just the cam gears would be flipped the one one the left will be intake and one on right exhaust.

i will also use the evo harness and the evo ecu. and i will have to machine the oil pump to fit a crank sensor.

It wont. The cam gears will be on the opposite side of the motor from your crank pulley. If you can figure out a way to fix that little issue then you are a smarter man than I am. Flipping it around wont work because the cams will run backwards, the same issue as installing evo cams in a 1g/2g head. On top of that I doubt it would even bolt up.

how will the cam gears be on the clutch side when all they did was move the motor to the pass side they just did a 180 and flipped intake and exhaust i looked at pics it will work dude.

Holy crap dude it wont work! Just run a full 6 bolt or a full evo motor. How are you going to put on the timing belt? With bubble gum and tape? Let it go my man it sounded like a good idea but it will require tons of effort machining and a blessing from God to get that motor together.

How will an evo head look cleaner!??? There right you can't put an evo head on a 6 bolt. ( but I actually thought you could since in my car it looks identical).I have an evo3 motor in my talon for that reason you can't just mix everything together and hope it would work, I really don't see why you'd want to do that. What evo head were you looking at anyway?

OR, just use a 7 bolt head because they flow sicker than the bird flu. :D

EDIT: Just saw youre trying to do this in a WRX...why if you dont mind me asking? Just keep the boxter slug in there and do what you want to do. Save yourself the inevitable anurisms. haha

He's talking about an evo9 head with MIVEC, why you would really be concerned with MIVEC on a drift car is absolutely beyond me but that is what he wants. An evo3 head CAN bolt onto a 6bolt which is why they look nearly identical, its because they are very similar. The difference between a 2g head and an evo3 head is very minimal.

Ok, I was reading and thinking to myself. WTF are they saying, but yes 100% an evo9 head will never fit on a 6bolt block. Honestly I don't understand why either. You want to drift get a 180sx sr20det and it's built to drift. Why you would wanna take out the awesome boxer sound of a flat 4 motor I HAVE NO CLUE!

Wow of all the crazy ideas I've heard....

OP: Clear cut way to run a 4G63 in RWD is to use EVO 8 manifolds. Yes they will bolt up. Plus that way the turbo and throttle body will face towards the front of the car. This is good. You will need to eliminate the EGR and re route the coolant passages but thats where it gets really tricky.

However since you're doing this in a WRX.....:ohdamn:

I now thinking outside the box is wonderful and all but sometimes you gotta be realistic. :aha:

You wanna build a 4G drifter? Swap a Starion or Conquest and be a badass. You'll get plenty of info on 4G63 RWD swaps on projectzerog.com.

see if i do it in a wrx the rear is all there i wont have to do a lot to make it rwd just get a drive shaft. then all i have to do is spend time puting in the motor and motor mounts n wiring. i found a cheap wrx that i will be getting and i got a cheap 6 bolt. i found a guy that makes bell housing for a w55 trans out of a supra.

ohh i just found this they took a 4g64 n put a evohttp://www.club3g.com/forum/3g-eclipse-rs-gs-specific/102450-dohc-head-swap-information-finally.html head on it. i do believe 4g63 and 4g64 are every close.

Slow down Tinkerbell....:nono:

The 4G64 they are talking about is out of Outlanders and 3g Eclipses. WAY different than the our generation 4G64. They also have the proper orientation to match timing and trans sides like on the Evo head.

Here's what one looks like. Notice which side the transmission is on?

:beatentodeath:

I don't want to shoot your hopes down but you're wrong man. Sorry.
