Hello guys! I tried searching but I couldn't find the answer to my question, I also tried posting this question on an existing Evo brakes related thread but it didn't get much attention.

I've been thinking about doing the Evo brake swap, and of course I'll need new wheels for that. I've searched the evolutionm.net's forums for wheels that clear the Evo's calipers, but almost every wheel that does that would probably rub the rear fenders, at least according to here: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/frequently-answered-dsm-questions/286685-will-these-wheels-tires-fit.html

My question is: Is this caliper clearance issue only on the front, or is it also in the rear? If you have Evo brakes with wheels that aren't Evo's, what was your solution to this problem?

Thanks in advance!

I am pretty sure that the use of evo brakes uses a rotor thats at least 12.25 inches. You will need 17 inch rims to fit these brakes. There is a forum already on here that discusses Evo brakes on 2g, I am sure you know this. You should post to see if anyone with 2g talon with Evo brakes can take a measure the radius from the evo caliper to the center hub, x2, you have inner diameter minimum rims size.

Evo rims work great with the evo calipers on a 2g. They will fit fine.

Thanks for answering, but I think I wasn't too clear. The caliper clearance I was talking about was the "caliper to wheel spokes" clearance, not "caliper to inner wheel diameter". I do know that I'll need at least 17" rims.

What I'm worried about is that the wheels with spokes that clear the rear caliper has an offset that rubs the rear fender. I was thinking of going with 17x8 wheels, probably Motegi Traklites (I'm still choosing), 225/45R17 tires (at least in the rear, I may go with 245/40R17 in the front, my car is a GST).

Thanks again everyone, and sorry for not being very clear. English is not my first language.

I never got why you need 17's? Evo guys run the FD wheels(which are 16's) all the time. The only thing I can think of is the Brackets hold the calipers a little higher then they would be on an evo?

I don't know, everyone said they're not sure if it'd 16" wheels, but they surely don't fit the stock Eclipse wheels. Evo stock wheels are 17", and the brakes look pretty tight... still, some breathing room can't be bad.

Trust me the FD wheels on them are tight. But thats a factory wheel. I am sure a nice aftermarket 16 would fit. I am contemplating buys some evo brakes. But I want to run slicks, And if for some reason the bracket moves the caliper up and 16's really don't fit. Then I dont want them.

I think its just the fact that people see the 17's and they are close and assume 16's won't fit. I would like to see someone test fit some nice aftermarket 16's and see what happens.

it really depends on what brackets you use and if you change the rotor size.

If you are using the 2g method and get new generation galant knuckle, I am sure 16 might work.

I know alot of people who increase rotor size when they make the brackets.

Thats is very true.

I would be going for the stock rotors as well. But you make a very good point!
