Ok, to begin with I have a 96 gsx that I bent the rods on so I went out and bought a used 60k JDM engine which turned out to be an evo 3 engine...it has the evo 3 turbo on so i'm pretty sure that it is. :p

I know that it is a direct drop in but is there anything I need to swap from my old engine and is there anything else that I should look out for? I don't have to swap any emmisions stuff do I? Also can I use the ecu that is in my car?

ya you can use the stock ecu and you have to change the firing order thats all i just did this swap about a month ago. If you have any questions just pm me i might be able to answer most if not all your questions about the swap
 
The evo 3 comes with 510cc injectors and i just installed the evo 3 fuel pump and my air fuel mix is just as it was with the 450's.

Just changing fuel pumps will not compensate for more injector flow. What are you measuring A/F ratio with? Bigger injectors with no compensation = running rich. With 510cc you have 13.3% bigger injectors. need to compensate for this some how, or just run ruch. But the A/f ratio cannot be the same
 
Ok...this will be a slightly random question...but has anyone ever heard of swapping out an Eclipse engine with the SRT-4 engine?

There was some talk of doing it to the N/T cars, but I dont think anyone ever actually did it. But I have saw a regular 420a neon that had been swapped.(It looked like crap) but it was in the car and running. So it may be possable, but for the money it would cost I would just sell the N/T car and buy a gst/gsx.

I guess if you could get it done you would be able to show off and say, Hey look what i did. Believe me it would be cool and interesting to see. I myself would just do like luvmygst said. Sell the N/T and get a Gst or Gsx. But if you find someone that has done it see if you can get some pics posted.
 
I looks like it would pretty much just fit in, the tranny is on the same side...so it would all depend on the mounts. how much does it normally cost to swap in a evo3?
 
Lucky, lucky man. Evo 3 motors are very rare and can be very valueable. My buddy got an evo 3 motor a couple years back and he got the deal of a lifetime. The motor came with the usual 510cc injectors, cyclone intake manifold, and evo 3 turbo( I think its actually a big 16g not really like the newer style evo 3 turbo). But only to take off the trans to find a ralli art 3 puck clutch and lightweight magnesium looking flywheel. Seconds later I look into the axle hole`s to find out the trans has a factory LSD. All a good thing except for the gear ratio. Evo 3 gear ratios are different than U.S. gear ratios, so if you run the trans you will burn up your center diff. This leaves you with two choices. Sell the trans or find an evo 3 rearend gear set.
 
I recently did this swap but added the Evo III engine, trans and rear Diff. But 4 months later i find my self pulling this supposed low mile JDM out and rebuilding it. But i had added a 56 trim and 780 inj and a bunch of other stuff that might have added to that rebuild. Justdo yourself a favor and make sure the engine is in good shape.

guys , im from a country where everything here is JDM , we do not have the talon, eclipse or any DSM , we only have Mitsubishi Lancers , Proton's and the real EVO's.
unfortunately , its already obsolete over here , thats the reason im here over in dsmtuners , i own a e3 motor

e3 run on eci multi intake manifold , if ## buddy got a cyclone intake manifold , he actually runs a VR4 first generation head which is equivalent with the 1G DSM head ,
the 3 puck ralliart is actually a Exedy 3 puck , and about the transmission , if u did use the standard driveshafts back then he is very lucky indeed , only aftermarket LSD like Kaaz , Cusco & Adelia have been designed to use back ## standard driveshafts , OEM lsd gearbox thats produced by Mitsubishi has a diffrent crown wheel design on their driveshafts , you may find that info in AUS sites.

im quite lucky to live here, e3 motors is only around $400usd. bt then we do not get much aftermarket parts over here , haha , i wish i could get FP3065 and FP2's , all we get is GT30R n HKS272's
 
I will tell you know 99% of the evo III motors listed that are for sale are not evo III motors most are evo I or II.

I know my Engine, trans and rear dif is out f a Evo III, LoL it was out of my friends Evo III after he destroyd it on Hwy 905 in San Diego. :)
