allright, well i've seen lots of threads about the sbr evo turbos having boost creep problems, i was wondering, i'm also putting on a 3" rnr o2 elim. downpipe at the same time, anybody think i'm going to have any boost creep issues with this? i didn't get the 34mm flapper, cause i'm hoping to get up around 17psi on this....basically, should i port out the wg alot before i put it on? or leave it, i'm trying to get this all ready, so i can get it on in one shot. thanks for the help.

Dustin

Port, port, and more porting. You will want to get as much flow as possible throughout your exhaust (manifold-2-muffler).:thumb:

Well I'm running the evo3 and rnr 3 turbo back o2 elim...external dump tube..and I'm still creeping to 25+

So you still have an internal wastegate, just an external dump right?

Port the piss out of everything I mentioned above. Sometimes an EBC also helps out alittle. :thumb:

does anybody know how sbr's porting is? i ordered it ported, i kinda planned on porting my the flapper where it meets the o2 housing, porting it out, but do i need to port inside it also? kinda like on this thread:http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=99090&highlight=evo+boost+creep , also i thought a o2 housing like the one on my o2 dp would help with boost creep? because the wg passage on the housing couldn't keep up. thanks for the help guys.

98autogstspyder on here got the SBR-ported Evo III turbo and the RnR O2 elim downpipe (although the 2.5" I believe) and he still had boost creep and had to get the 34mm flapper installed. It might be possible to port the wastegate passage enough to control creep, but it'll be challenging. I did it on my regular Big 16G, though, and was even able to keep the stock flapper. The Evo turbo looks to be another story, however.

shit....well i guess is it the consensus that i send it back and get the 34mm flapper??? i just don't want to have boost falling off at 6k like i've heard from some others. that sucks, i think sbr might have sent it out allready too.

They just keep coming. Maybe someone should make a sticky about the Evo16G, its creep problems, and how to go about fixin it.:(

yea, sorry, thats why i posted it in newbie tech, cause i see everybody talking about porting the o2 housing to help with boost creep, so i figured with a tubular one like mine i wouldn't have to worry about it too much, but in all the searching i've done, i haven't seen too many poeple with the rnr o2 elim. that has had this problem. majority of people i've seen have had the stock o2 housing, or the evo 3.

well, i went ahead and ordered the 34mm flapper, so i guess we'll see how it goes...thanks for the help guys.

just a shining light in this gloomy thread :thumb:

i hope i'm that lucky, cause i have one month, to get this thing up and running. (one month i have a track day with my dad's 97 ss)

Dustin

by " up and running " i hope you mean modded enough to race, not literally running. cause i wouldn't suggest running the car at hte track

if you mean competitively in shape, i definately suggest the evo 16G. it sucks people have had bad experiences with them, but the 2 times i've ordered from them it came promptly with no hassle.

get a 16G and supporting mods and embarass that SS!!!

nah, i mean both, in the last 3 years, i've put about 1500 miles on it, cause it never runs right, and i have to have it good enough to race too. this little war with me and my dad has been going for about 5 years now. (i had bad taste in previous sports cars.) time to end. called sbr, they still haven't shipped yet, so should come this week.

well, talked to Craig at slowboy today, he's going to mess with the wastegate some so boost creep isn't an issue, basically, he said i would do like pte was doing to some of there's, kinda like boostedinaz did to his i think, he said he would take the "bridge from the wastegate to the turbine" out, or something like that, but i'm guessing its like boostedinaz did to his, he said it should ship tomorrow. so a few more days to find out. if anybody could also clarify this for me, is this what hes talking about or what??? my cell was dying in mid-conversation. but i think if it has that, and the 34mm flapper, i shouldn't have to worry at all about it. max i'm looking to run is 18, cause this will be on pump, no race gas for me, so i think it should be able to hold 18 to redline, i hope.

 Another bad story, just got my evo16g from slowboy that was ported WITH the 34mm flapper, also put on a full 3 inch exhaust with test pipe and rnr o2 eliminator downpipe basically everything i could do to avoid boost creep, adjusted my boost to 16psi and took it out for a test drive, stayed at 16psi all the way through first, as soon as the upper rpm's of 2nd came it creeped all the way up to 20+ and hit fuel cut, does this everytime....i dont kno what to do....my manifold is untouched would porting the hell out of that help ne? if not then please help me out with some suggestions on what i could do

Porting the inlet to the wastegate passage should help. Anything that makes it easier for the exhaust gases to go through the wastegate instead of through the turbine is good. Porting the exhaust manifold won't help.

jsut to let everyone know. That method didnt work for me:mad:  I have alot of creep still. I ported it out as it says plus im running a external dump. I can go about 70% throttle now without creep. I have ran it off the manifold to the wastegate bypassing the mbc. I have worse control then and it creeps more. I have tried tieing the flapper open and i still build boost and if it is a higher gear then it still will creep to 20+psi. Tonight with all this done I am still htting 22-28psi in the gears. The worst part is it creeps worse in the lower gears than the higher ones.ITs really weird. ANyone have a idea on how to fix this other than external wastegate let me know. Thanks

I'm having the same problems man..almost thinking of selling the turbo now...kinda wish i never bought it now...I'm thinking its the head more so than anything....2g head is too restricted
