Hey people...im curious to know what kind of times your running with your setup? Do you have any dyno numbers with it? What kinda boost numbers are you running? Where does the power start to fall off? Im comtemplating on buying one...any info on this turbo would be great, ive used the search button, but i couldnt really find some general information ive been looking for, from the owners themselves. Thanx alot guys.

Steve,

Take a look at the 1/4 mile times section under "Big 16G" and you'll find some decent numbers for the EVO III. People running high boost spikes of 30psi dropping to 23-24 by redline with cams have gone high 11's with a bit more left in the car. Some have gone mid 11's. Consider that optimal flow on this turbo is around 42 lbs./min., but that it takes a great focus on volumetric efficiency, porting and tuning to get there. Granted, an EVO III is an inexpensive upgrade and makes more sense than an 18G, but for a slightly larger investment you can buy something that runs upwards of 48-49 lbs./min and will be more friendly on pump gas.

If I had my choice, I'd run a 20G or a Green and have a monster setup for the street and a very respectable one for the strip.

Good luck,

Andy

See signature and here is a dyno of a evo316g you can look at.

What do you mean by "more friendly on pump gas" ??

Larger turbos do not create as much heat as a smaller turbo so you can generaly run alittle more boost on them if you know how to tune.

Hey tom it looks like you get max power at 5500rpms....Is this with a set of stock cams? Is your head stock, do you have bigger valves (oversized)...How much boost was ran with this run? This may be a dumb question but is this 413hp to the wheels or at the flywheel? What do you tune with? Sorry for all the questions...im just very interested in your setup. Tom also is there any reference to you running an external gate on the 16g, was it not holding boost well or something of that nature? Any help would be appreciated..

PS. I was the guy who pmed you on tampabay.dsm.

Max power is a 5500 but thats not where i see max boost.
Head has 1mm over valves and FP1 cams. Rest is stock and no porting.
Boost would hit about 30 and settle in around 25ish.
The 413 is to the wheels on a awd mustang dyno
This was done with a dsmlink.
Dont worry about the questions. Thats how you learn.

Tom whats the deal with the external wastegate on the 16G? Was it not holding boost uptop 25+psi range? Does your 16g have the 34mm flapper or stock 31mm? I really think im gonna buy this turbo soon...and probley will go with some sort of meth injection kit. I would hope with a great tune, and my setup...il be at the 350hp plus mark.

I ran my 16g with the stock wastegate.
The motor just eats the boost up, up top.
350hp is no sweat.

i run an external on my evo3 also (tial40mm) and i love it. if your gonna run high boost on it(25+) i would highly recomend it.:thumb:

err im running the evo 3 16g, i did a little porting myself (not on the wastegate) im running it with the stock internal wastegate , has problems creeping to 20psi , but all in all i accually love this turbo, although i am looking for a new one because i kind of outgrew the e316g. 12.388 @ 110

Hey guys if you dont mind me asking....where did you purchase your evo 3 16g's from? How much did you end up paying for it, with all the goodies including such as porting, bigger flapper and such?

You do not want a bigger flapper.

At high boost a larger flapper door is easyer to blow open, im just going with a EX gate anyways/

The evo isn't maxed out until you're running 116-119 mph.

At least with a 3300lb car. I've seen lighter cars top 120+.

So many people give up without ever turning up the boost to the Evo III's max potential.

29psi dropping to 25/26psi is just about perfect.

hey guys,

i also plan on buying a e16g with a 38mm tial wg and a 20g turbine upgrade and a t06h. i am hoping for round 400hp

i also noticed some people talking about boosting at 29 psi?? is that on stock cams, head studs, and head gasket??:talon:

Full supporting mods w/stock cams + 25psi + 100 octane + perfect tune @ 11.5-12 AFR = 282awhp.

Flowing a best of 36lb/min, normally in the 33-34 range when its not so cold like it is now.

Times should be in next weekend if everything goes right. I'm hoping to break into the 13's.

Boost doesn't fall off, it creeps. Power falls off at 6,000rpm in spite of the increasing boost.

What was your timing like? What kind of dyno?

a good place to buy a 16g is extremepsi.com, i bought mine around 11 in the morning and somehow it came the very next day. and i have a 16g but i was wondering if its possible to change the trim size and i was wondering if it was hard to do? im no way near maxing out my 16g but i would like to one day. and by the way i love my 16g, i ran 14.0 at 106.

Tyler, you have to admit something is wrong
are you knocking??
the kid who dyno'd before me was loosing all his power after 6000 too.
Aaron said he was probly knocking but he would have to come back another time to go over the car. (i was next in line to be dyno'd at the time and had already been waiting an hour too long)

I JUST made 276awhp on my Big T-28 @20psi and Forcednductshun(sp?) is making 280 at 20psi on his regular big 16g.

I have no number from the evo 16g yet, since as we speak its getting an external gate welded inplace. But i can talk about the small, and it seems like 11's will be no problem with the vo16g. My car made 338awhp on the small 16g at 25psi dropping to 20psi by 7grand. And with this power the car went 12.1@112mph. Things iv chanced since then, evo 16g, 650cc injectors, walbro 255, eprom ecu with chip, and now the tial wastegate. I see no reason not to make 360+awhp and run into the 11s with this setup. On my 153k stock 7bolt.

No knock. 20* peak at redline, perfect curve before that.

25psi on this car feels like 10psi did on my Civic.

small turbos ownz me

I need to get my 60 trim back...

Something's not right here......im flowing 34.xx lb/min at 20 psi......you sure you dont have a massive boost leak somewhere?!?
