dont you non turbo guys hate these guys on here that say to get rid of your rs/gs an get a factory turbo dsm....? i used to have an 97 rs and was about to turbo it, but at the time i didnt know to much about cars so i went and bought me a 2g gst. i was reading Road Race engineerings web site and there is a section where they thought it was neccessary to say get rid of your 420a and buy a 4g63 dsm. honestly i will not buy from them unless i have to now. i used to HATE when i would hear people talking mess about the 420a. i went from 2g rs to 2g gst and now i have a 1g gsx. and if i ever got beat by a TURBO RS/GS i would give that guy madd props for taking the route i wish i would have before. dont get me wrong 4g63 are the best but 420a deserves alot more respect than what its given.
and if any evil 4g63 owners are mad about what i said go drive your dsm off a cliff with you in it:dsm: :laser: :talon: btw THIZZ iZ What iT iZ

I loved my 97 gs, probably because it was my first car and first dsm. It was fun to drive and sounded nice, parts were reasonable and my mechanic never got pissed off that the only way he could get under my car was to put it on the alignment rack (like he has to do with my spyder). It was good but i like the leather, the premium sound and of course, the immediate upgradability of having an engine that's already turbo. I think an rs/gs is a good place to start if you're new but after a year or so, it's time to get a turbo.

or turbo your rs if you like the 420a

the immediate upgradability

I don't actually know how much of a pain the conversion is, but it seems more practical to just get the 4g63t, which is probably why most people suggest it. If you're like a rs/gs extremist, by all means, make it a turboed beast and post about it. I love reading about stuff like that, I'd just never be willing to do the conversion myself.

You use to own the 420a, now you have been through 2 4g63s, you now know what the deal is behind why the so called "evil 4g63 owners" say what they say..

Your words say one thing, but your actions in cars show differently.. If you want to help get the word out about 420a power, get another one and help it gain more popularity.

Sure, people have done amazing things with the 420a, but its just overly shadowed by the 4g63. And by the looks of it, especially with the EVOs now here helping that shadow get bigger, it doesn't help.

LS1 vs LT1, Mustang V8 vs V6, the other is obviously superior and much more respected, but the inferior has also has done things to make a name for itself, but again, the superior just overshadows it..

But hey, 420a has 420 in it, and you sure as hell have the support of the potheads!

I'm sure most of the 420a owners are used to hearing it. It still bothers me once in a while, but it's be expected. The 420a's did sell more than the 4G63 cars so that makes me happier :) haha

Yeah. It gets pretty old being bashed for having a 420a. Tends to happen alot more on DSMTalk versus this site. To each their own I guess.. For the record OP, I spank GS-T's all day @ only 8psi. ;)

ive owned both..

sorry but the rs/gs i just thought was a giant turd...

my .02

im sure. and when those gst's add a 5$ mbc then what?

ill tell you what. i bought my GST and felt good i didnt buy a GS/RS, and told myself from then on i would never buy the base models, i would spend the extra and start off with a better platform. 2 years later, i got a 2002 mustang GT and kicked myself in the ass for it for not getting a Cobra. So i bought a 03 Cobra, and then kicked myself in the ass more because the GT would not sell since nobody wants to have "just a GT" anymore, and i was left strapped so i sold the cobra for profit, and bought a 1g GSX. i didnt even listen to my own advice and now im stuck with a crappy car that has a 12k loan and its hardly worth half that, when i couldve spend a little more (around 4k more for the initial cost of the car) and had something with way way more potential off the bat.

What kind of GS-T's are you smoking? Ones that are smoking? LOL

Isn't that because there were more N/Ts produced to begin with? Mitsu/Eagle had to satisfy those who didn't care for the performance, and just wanted the look of the 2g.

basically. manufacturers always sell more base models than the upper levels.

70% of stangs are base v6's, 25% are GT's and the other 5% are Cobra/Mach1's/etc. thats just how it goes.

gibze da b16 mad poropz too honduhs have skillzz

Dude, I don't know if you even had a point to begin with. Yes the 420A is a nice motor. Yes, the 4G63T is better. All this information is known universally on this site. I own a 4G63t, so that makes me evil?

I had a 420 Avenger then I turboed it now I have a 1g. All I need to say is what a waste of money on the Avenger the 420a sucks to modify and that's why you don't here about them. How many people do you hear saying yeah man I swapped my 420a into my v-6 sebring vs the honda guys doind swapa? You don't because the 420a motor blows and is great for 1 thing and that it being a dd. I never understood why people said sell it and get a 4g63 I was young and didn't understand. I wish I had saved that money and dropped it into my 1g.

If you want a faster car for less money, the 4g63 is better than the 420A. That's why everyone suggests just getting it. Less money and less hassle.

This isn't about what motor is "better". It's about respecting the fact we all modify our DSMs. God damn.
