i just wanted to change my spark plugs and when i pulled my wires out every single one broke and came out in peices. my plugs were also heavily covered in white carbon deposits. the guy at the part store said i might have too hot of a spark and it burned my wires, which caused them to break when i pulled them out. the first time i changed my plugs in july, i broke every one the same way. the boots broke off and left the rest attached to the spark plugs and i had to use pliers to get the rest out. how can i avoid this happening again??

mine do this too! And i use the grease! Every wire I pull on seperates, so ii use my lifetime warrenty toooo much!

With apologies to the very, very many that are truly good, this parts guy sounds like the usual divot-headed piece-pitcher.

It's a good idea to lube the socket of any plug wires, and especially those that live in holes like the DSMs.

It's also good to use a boot puller:

Some makers pre-grease the boots, and really good boots are of a high-enough quality silicone that they don't need lube. However, the lube is also a dielectric and moisture barrier, which modern ignition systems appreciate.

i use the silicone grease in those little tubes. i dont know what kind of wires i have, they're probably the cheapest ones i could have bought. but everybody says they shouldnt break like that, im using ngk v-power plugs that seem to work fine. well, thanks for the help, maybe ill just buy some good wires and see if they will stay in one peice

Parts-store wires suck. Especially the cheaper ones.

Gotta use lube, or they break. Sometimes they break even if you do.

Like other have said use a good lube on them. Also if you buy shitty wires they will do that no matter what you put in there. A quality wire will not pull apart
Here is your answer.
