eprom.

While you have it out, check the ECU number too to make sure its the appropriate ecu for your car. Found out mine is out of a M/T when I have an A/T, explains a lot of issues.

^great link and if memory serves me correctly, after mid 1991 they stopped putting EPROM ECU's in DSM's for a while. But its always a safe bet to check and make sure....

In the book How To Build Max Performance 4g63 Mitsubishi Powered Engines they say that every 90 DSM came factory with an EPROM ECU. When I took mine out of my 90 Talon it came with a factory EPROM.

Has anyone ever heard of A 1990 talon tsi coming stock with an EEPROM ecu

EEPROM? No. An EPROM, yes.

Nope. EPROM ECUs were found, though rarely overall, throughout the 1G production run.

You got lucky, then. Not all '90 models came with EPROM ECUs.

EPROM ECU's can be found in all 1g DSM's, they are just most common in 90-91. Not all 90's came EPROM either.

Edit- iPhone is slow, 19Eclipse90 beat me to it.

Note that there are 1G non-turbo EPROM ECUs as well; they aren't limited only to turbo models. This just goes to say that having an EPROM ECU does not necessarily mean it is a turbo ECU.
