I do not know if it’s normal or notbut on the socket I got from DSMchips has what I believe to be pin #25 is missing. is this normal or not? B/c i am haveing problem with the car after i got this done. Its clicking from what i think is the MPI reply and im just trying to rule things out.
 
All of the pins are suppost to be there. You must have gotten a faulty socket.

yea, i spoke with jeff and he said the same thing. He is sending me a new socket. So now i get to go back to the TV repair shop and ask them to redo it with the right socket. :coy:
 
The sockets I've seen Jeff supply really shouldn't be used in a car. They aren't rated for use in equipment subject to vibration like you find in automotive applications and the EPROM can work it's way out of the socket. In practice I've not heard of anyone's chip popping out but I don't want the liability so I recommend people use machine pin sockets that are qualified for this type of use.
