engine will turn over with out spark plug wires, but when wires are in it wont turn

ok so i had a few problems i just took care of on my 1990 laser rs rebuild and now im trying to start it up. it is having no trouble turning over when i take out the spark plugs to mix up the oil, but as soon as i put the spark plugs in it will not turn over any more i just get one click and nothing else. what is going wrong?

Battery may be dead/dieing. Have it checked. There is zero compression with the plugs out and full compression with them in so the engine is much harder to turn over. A weak battery may not be able to handle it.

wrong firing order... the engine read backwords.. So firing order is 4123.

The guy said,that he took the spark plugs out of the head,he didn't say,that he took the sparkplug wires out...... So the Firing order has nothing to do with it.....

oh no that was a typo i did take the spark plug wires out not the spark plugs

ok i changed the wires to the way you said and we got some back firing so we are going to drain the gas and put new stuff in since this stuff is so old and see if thatl help out please check back later as i may have some more questions about this. thanks

Yes it does and why would you comment like that? Ya you might have flooded it out so your spark plugs might be fouled. Pull them out and clean them up nice and add some fresh premium and it should fire up. Good luck man.

Mah bad man..... i got overheated outside i think.....was workin on my car outside on a 100+ degrees all day..... but you were right.... he took everythin out,so in order to put the spark plugs back on,he had to put a wires back on too...... which was a bad firing order........

Try switching wires 4-1-3-2 it shouldn't backfire if you go that...
