Water Pump, Oil Pump, Timing Belt (and tensioner). Those are things I would replace so I don't have to worry about them after the motor is in. The job is exponentially harder once the motor is in the car...

The car has less than a mile on it with the new timing belt, tensioner, pullys, balnces shaft belt, water pump and oil pump... I did it with the engine in the car only to find out that I have a bad knocking rod... Anyways I guess Im more concerned about getting the turbo into top shape

I second this, I did all this out of the car but got the timing wrong and had to redo it after I put the motor in. It's a situation where you wish you have room to work but you don't. You have to loosen the motor mounts to move the car up and down to gain clearance to loosen and tighten bolts, It sucks.

I couldn't imagine changing the water pump in the car, it has the makings of a bad day written all over it.

Check for shaft play, that'll tell you the condition of your turbo for the most part. You still could have bad oil seals but you won't really know until you start running it. I would just check the shaft play and if all looks good, slap it on.

id add fuel filter, motor mounts, tranny mount
 
Well, there isn't a whole lot you can do to check/repair it without taking it apart.

Check for in/out shaft play (side2side, up/down isn't really a problem(normally)).
Check for oil around the inlet as well.

If you wanted to rebuild it, there's kits all over the place for td05's. (assuming you're 5-speed/14b) Or, you can just go bigger now...:hellyeah:
 
Not really, you will just have to go with lower boost to compensate for the extra air flow, now this will give you some extra pull but unless your just going to a evoIII 16g or something along those lines you will have to upgrade your fuel. The only bad thing about upgrading fuel is now you need some way to control it. The typical upgrade path is wally 255 pump, afpr, injectors, and something to tune with (eg. safc, dsmlink, dsmap....)
 
If I go any bigger then I'll need a new fuel pump and fuel rail right? Were can I get a 14b rebuild kit also

No you don't need a different fuel rail. The fuel rail can probably outflow the whole rest of the fuel system. If your turbo has slight up/down play and basically no in/out play, leave it alone.
