Engine rebuild suggestions

[my first 420a]

So im swapping a 6bolt into my 94 gsx. and was going to rebuild the motor to stock but idk if theres something slightly upgraded that any of you guys reccommend. as of now my gsx has a ETS fmic with piping, it has an aftermarket fuel pump and injectors as far as i know (from previous owner) it has a cheapo manual boost controller, autometer ultra lite (i believe) boost and air/fuel gages. and a 3inch gm maf, with the older MAFT ive never touched it before i dont know what im doing with it. and a 3 inch downpipe back into the stock exhaust (i plan on finishing that 3inch all the way back. but any mods anyone would suggest while i swap over to a 6bolt? like internals or anything like that. im not looking to get to wild just a little something something.

Just do a BSE and some 3g lifters. Keep it stock until you're ready to build the engine. I've personally witnessed a few DSM's with stock internals/heads making a lot of power. Invest in ECMLink and worry about tuning and maintenance.

oh yeah i already bought a bs elim kit, when i bought a new timing belt, water pump, timing belt tensioner adjuster and some gaskets. is dsmlink and ecmlink dinfferent? price difference?

3g lifters have a bigger bore which helps to eliminate lifter tick. Very common modification in the DSM community.

Oh and ECMLink/DSMLink, call it what you want, is tuning software for the DSM.

Partsdino has some good deals but you can get some ITM 3g lifters. Just do some research and you should be able to find a good deal.

remember, label and take pictures when tearing apart for the first time.. dont do what i did my first time and go ratchet happy and pull every bolt you see off and scatter everthing on the ground.. come back a week later scratching your head.. good ol' days

Very good information. Use some sandwich bags and label all of the bolts you remove.

Well i already learned my lesson in taking out the motor and i didnt label a thing. and im having the motor rebuilt by a shop and put together, and i will probably just have a shop install it too cause i dont wanna mess anything up. but thanks for the help 2slow4utsi
