i was driving on the highway and my a/c belt snapped knocking off my altenator and p/s belt and now whenever i turn the car on theres an antifreeze leak and the engine revs up to 3000 rpm by itself. also i replaced all the belt but the p/s belt wont move and it makes a very loud noise. what could be the causes of these problems?

First off, you made this very hard to understand by the way you typed it..

#1. Read our rules, i noticed this is your first post.
#2. I can't see how a alternator belt snapping causes a anti freeze leak and your engine reving to 3000 rpms. So these are 2 separate problems.
#3. And your 3rd problem is your power steering belt is squeeling? Correct? Well; your going to have to adjust the power steering pump by loosening the bolts and tightening/loosening the belt.

Where's the leak coming from.. We need more information to help figure out how to fix the leak..

Im thinking you have the belts hooked up wrong. There is two pulleys on the water pump a small and a big one. The small one is the inside one and thats the one the power steering belt is looped around. The serpetine belt goes around the crank, the bigger pulley on the water pump, and the alternator. The crank moves all the pulleys which moves all the belts..check your diagram of how you have your belts..

i have a manual and i'm pretty sure there there on the right pulleys but now the alternator belt is moving but the power steering belt jumps and doesn't move all the time but i took the belts off and all the pulleys move freely so i dont think it has anything to do with the pulleys. and also when i turn my car on alot of smoke comes up from the power steering pulley and it smells like rubber but it doesn't seem like the belt are rubbing or anything. as for the engine reeving, how many hoses are there that i should check in case there's a vacuum leak?

I think it's unlikely that you missed this, but it's worth a shot... There is a bolt on the power steering pump that holds its bracket in place. The bolt is hidden right behind the pulley on the pump and when it is not fully screwed in it could possibly hit the pulley on the pump. This could be jamming the whole system and making your belts slip a lot. Did you loosen the right bolts to adjust the tension of your power steering belt? Do you own a Haynes manual or other shop manual?

if you didnt hook your a/c belt back up and your running your defrosters your motor will idle higher ### the computer tells it to to make up for the extra strain from the work load on the motor because of the extra accessory.

How far did you drive the car after the belts snapped?

And, where are you leaking coolant?

BTW - Please try to locate the shift key on your keyboard. ;)

yea how far did you drive the car after the belt snapped? sounds like you may have overheated the car and possibly cracked the head or blown a head gasket with a mysterious coolant leak after a waterpump belt break. i would have the coolant system pressure checked or you can do it yourself if you have the equiptment. a coolant system pressure test kit at harbor freight is like $80. you can check it out at harborfreight.com. good luck

So if I got this correctly, you did the repair yourself. Put everything back together. Adjusting the tension on the new belt as suggested by a replier in this thread, and it still squeaks. On top of that, it's migrating? And to double check by visually inspecting the pulley for any wabble while running? Did you install a pulley backwards? I only ask because this sounds exactly what I went through. Hope this helped.

I think I know what happened. When my belt snapped it hit the hose on the bottom by the oil cooler and put a gash in it giving me a huge coolant leak. Some bits of he belt could have also hit a vacuume line or something.
