engine removal

i have been trying to remove my engine from my 1997 mitsubishi eclipse rs and i got it away from the trans but it will not come up i have the engine hoist hooked up and still nothing i have the passenger mount removed is their another or maybe a roll stopper any help or ideas are welcomed thanks

Remove the harmonic balancer pulley.
Loosen up the tranny.

Is it auto or manual?

Usually when I remove an engine, I just look all the way around it to make sure nothing is still hooked up, or hanging up on anything. It helps to have a second set of eyes, but generally the second set of eyes have to be there in person, watching as you slowly lift the engine.

If you have to do it yourself, just take your time, and look at everything really closely. When you are sure it's not connected to anything, raise it another couple inches, then look at everything again. Repeat as may times as necessary.

remove the UDP for sure. any reason your pulling them separate? I always pull them together.. Youll probably have to un-bolt the front and rear roll stops and support the trans.. it will need to angle up with the motor as you pull.

Its a manual and I'm puling it because the motor its shot due to a friend when he owned it

To me it is.
Others will say removing the engine and tranny together will be easier, its more of a personal choice.

Either drop the transmission first or pull the engine and tranny as one. Since its manual trying to pull the engine with tranny staying in the bay is just over complicating something that should be easy. If it was an auto i could understand leaving the tranny in the bay....but not with a manual.

agreed id pull it all out in one piece, will make it alot easier to take out and to put trans and new motor together, then put it all back in, good luck sir
