Head removal

Alright guys, got the head back from the shop. Time was an issue to get the head sent in and fixed under warranty, so I ended up just pulling off the timing gears and working around the timing belt to get the head out. I hate that I had to do it this way. Anyways, to properly time and replace the head, I need to get this damn passenger side engine mount bracket off the block. I just can't because the bolts are hitting the engine bay, and they wont pull out completely. So guys, hit me up with knowledge.

So, basically, the machine shop said that one valve was bent pretty bad and the others were mildly warped. Any ideas as to why this happened? The shop said my car was possibly running too rich, due to the carbon buildup in the combustion chamber. Does that sound plausable? I received the head with shiny new valves installed and an upper gasket kit. I also went out today and bought some new oil, antifreeze, and P/S fluid. I'm pretty deep in this now! LOL...

I dunno but I just read this chain of events and I have to follow them all I have a 97rs
Also what would be reusable from the neons 420a? I do know it's reversed does that affect anything?

Remove the front motor mount if you haven't already. Jack the motor up as high as you can go, then pull the bolts out as far as you can (there should really only be one bolt you can't get out fully). When you get that last bolt out as far as it will go, it will still be in the motor mount bracket, BUT, it should be out of the motor and you should be able to pull the bracket and bolt out together. Yes it's a PITA the first (few) times, but once you get used to it, it's really not that hard. Good Luck!

I don't see how the car running too rich and carbon building up can bend one valve, but I'll let some of the more knowledgable people answer that. Mind sharing how much the rebuilt head costed you?

Yup, that bracket is the most annoying thing in the whole car. Like I said to someone else a few days ago...
Either drill holes in the side of the engine bay that way it is easy to remove from this point forward, or do just what Corey said.

Carbon build up isn't going to bend a valve... It could cause pre-ignition if the carbon is formed in one spot. During compression that carbon is extrememley hot and it can act as an ignition source and cause the air/fuel mixture to ignite spontaneously.

Well i have ran into a small problem... We used a 3 prong pulley puller to get the crank pulley off which later found out we didnt need to pull the pulley and the pulley has slipped off the harmonic balancer a little bit. But the pulley still will not come off.. Any suggestions on how to get the pulley off?

I got the pulley off and the head back together.. Ive tried to post pics on here but they dont show up for some reason. I have pics from an of just the block to the motor fully assembled
