I am looking for help on removal of my charcoal canister and EGR system on my 2G Talon. I understand that I will get a CEL with removal of the EGR (and dont care). Mainly my question is can I remove the charcoal canister without harming my motor? I unplugged it the other day because I was going to remove it. I drove it and it just had a weird smell while running. I since plugged it in and left it alone. I am trying to clean up my engine bay as much as possible. I will just cap off the vacuum ports on the intake manifold. I DONT need to pass emissions.
Thanks

Buy/make an EGR block off kit. That will allow you to move all of your EGR components and plug the vac port. You will get a CEL but thats no big deal. Not real sure about removing the charcoal canister. I still have mine on and dont really plan on removing it. The EGR just clogs your intake manifold so that had to go..

I took the charcoal canister off my Jeep and just plugged the line coming from the gas tank and the vac. It has been like that for 4 years with NO problems...and I have E-CHECK emmisions test. Its still passes just fine!

That canister is just to suck up the evaporating gas from the tank. The charcoal holds it till you start the car. Then the Fumes are sucked into the manifold from engine Vaccum and burnt off.

Raw fuel vapors must cause more pollution than burnt fuel I guess.

i removed my charcoal and everything else that is emission related and haven't triggered any cel. now that my battery is located in my trunk my engine bay looks a lot more cleaner.

Is it safe to assume that I can cut that line from the gas tank further back so it cant be seen? I can plug it or something underneath the car if I can. Then just plug the vacuum port? Is the only thing that needs vacuum on a n/t the FPR?
