hopefully easy question, im getting ready to rebuild my engine in an 2.0 4g63 7-bolt stock block and wondering how i go about getting higher rpms and horse power from the internals, i did do some research but none that can give me answer im looking for. trying to rebuild engine for high rpm and compression with out turbo, as for internal what would be the best way to go?
 
For higher RPMs you'd want to grab some new cams, rods, springs, basically a rebuilt head to handle the faster motion. For the bottom end you'd want forged internals. Wouldn't it be easier to turbo your car with a low psi for just as much if not more power, and less work? As for compression goes, I'm not so sure.
 
if probably would be easier to just forged the internals and add turbo, but from reading and searching around you need a low compression pistons to handle boost, since higher compression pistons will lead to knock
 
That is true, 9:1 is generally the highest compression to go with a DSM. The higher the compression you go you'll have more bottom end torque, but you cannot boost as much. However, you don't need as much boost to make equal or more power than a lower compression block.
 
Well if your looking to stay NT, wouldn't you want higher compression?
 
No boost? Get 12:1 and mild cams. Get forged rods and stiffer valve springs as well if youre going to rev high.
