I've read through some of the other threads regarding priming the engine with the timing components installed. I am familiar with the RRE procedure also. I have a different situation however:

The engine is already in the car, but I just realized that the timing is off by one tooth( being the newb that I am, I put it in without checking the timing first as I purchased the engine complete.) So I still need to prime the oil pump, but I also have to uninstall the timing components to fix the problem there.

Do I have more options for priming now that the timing assembly will be off?

Time the belt first, then follow this trick below:

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...pump-timing-components-already-installed.html

I did this trick on a 92 Galant with the 6G72 V6 motor since we had to rebuild the oil pump. We filled up the oil filter first, spun on the filter, then took the sending unit out, took a squeeze bottle full of oil and shot it thorugh the hole to fill the pump. Put the sending unit back on, fired up the motor and immediate pressure was available.

Worked like a charm.

Will this method supply an appropriate amount of oil to all the bearings? The engine was built more than 2 years ago, and I want to make sure everything will be lubed properly.

There is enough oil slick covering all of the moving parts if the motor hasn't been sitting too long.

This motor we worked on sat for two months before we did the external prime method and had no problems afterwards.

With your case, it's like if the car sat in the garage for a couple of weeks without being started.

It's like this: if the user that posted that tech trick in the tech forums and was allowed to keep it there, wouldn't ya thinks that this procedure was a bona fide procedure to use?
