Ok i had a few wires go bad in a harness. my buddy told me to drop the blower motor, glove box. and unbolt a few bolts and i could remove the black box right behind the glove box and remove the harness without taking the entire dash out. has anyone done this? I removed the two bolts up inside the dash and the two by the floor and the blower motor and the glove box. the black box itself is lose but will not come out. im wondering why. do you guys think it would be easier to remove the entire dash? i hope not heh let me know thanks for the help

my friend swears i dont need to do that. the said its going to be a pain to get the box back in there but im not worried about that yet. I just cant figure out whats holding me up

The "black box" is made of 3 sections. (From left to right) Heater core section, AC evaporator section, and the blower motor section. Notice the push pins that hold the blower part of the box to the AC section? You need to take those out also. They are the same style push pin that holds the rear 1/4 trim in by the rear side windows.

i didnt notice them. what color are they? do you know how many of the are? also my ac is gone can i remove that stuff while im in there or no ?

The pins are black. I'm not 100% on how many. If all your AC components are gone under hood, then you could take the evaporator out of the box safely, why not? You will have to take the next section apart to get at the evaporator, don't forget the control cable to the dash.

ok ill have to look really good because i didnt see any pins there the pushed in stright or to the side if you know what i mean...ill have to take part the section closest to the passanger side door correct?

The pins point to the firewall. From what I can tell there are two pins at that section of the box. A non AC equipped car uses a smaller duct there instead of the box. Yes, you will have to remove the part closest to the passenger door (part with the blower motor) to get the engine harness out, you can see the harness go up behind it. To get the evaporator out you will have to get at the section in the middle.

ok well i was trying to get the center section out in the frist place. so i can take everything inside the center section out? I got it out there was just one push pin i couldnt see. im looking at the other side now and from what i can tell there are two bolts holding it in. I think i can get at one without a problem the other im not so sure it will be instresting puting this thing back in will be SOOO much fun LOL

well did you get the harness out and if so, what steps did you take? I bought a NT harness new from the factory and i'm going to replace my turbo harness.

^^^ OMG! What did you get raped for from the factory on a harness? I ask because i'm looking to get a stock 2gb harness for my car incase i have to sell it here soon , and I need to put the stock ECU and emissions systems back into place If i'm going to sell it to anyone that's not a gearhead....but then again do i want a "normal person" getting a TRE trans w/ QUaiffe diff??.

well i say factory but i found it on ebay still with dealer tags for $85 shipped to my door. i want to strip it and remove the unused connectors and then powerbraid it. its just for a NT 4g63, so i figuredf it was missing a knock sensor and BCS line, which ill just run a line for the Knock sensor.
