Lately i've been thinking about building a 2nd car as a track only affair but am running into a few pains.

My 97 GS-T has been transformed into pretty much a "off road only" car already from gutting the engine bay and wiring in a stand alone, so it will not pass emmisions testing in most states ssince there's no OBD-II for them to link to. And, i pulled all the solenoids off the firewall and tossed the charcoal canister. I want to put another engine harness(and the other things i tossed) back in the car and run off the factory ECU again and then add DSMlink so i can keep the car tuned and not have to go back to stock performance.

This way i can use my haltech in my project car and not have to buy a new car if i move out of state ( i plan to next year) just to pass emissions. But at the same time, i don't feel a heavy FWD is worthy of a track car status in terms of getting out what you put in as far as performance if i were to just buy another daily driver and make the gs-t my track car..

Are all the 2Gb engine harnesses the same on the federal cars ( meaning not buying a harness from a california car)?

Where do i get a good 2g harness? all the local yards cut the harnesses to shreds wehn pulling the motors, and the places that pull the harness nicely usually sell it with the motor ( and i don't need another 2g motor by any means LOL) Any ideas on some one or some where to look?

Also, with my new job working for the government i should be making enough that i can buy another car and convert this one to AWD, which is almost sounding easier than buying another "good car" and ripping it apart to put all my goodies in while trying to get this one back to emmisions ready state with somethign like a big 16g on it again.

Too bad i'd never be able to leave an EVO or WRX alone or i'd just go buy one of those for a DD, but me leaving something stock that has potential is like a crack head passing up a free rock LOL

Any thoughts or ideas from people that have either put a whole new harness in a 2g or people that have made the AWD conversion would be apreciated. I'm honestly going to do what ever is easier. Since my last motorcycle wreck and most recent surgery to put me back together i can't just spend hours at a time under a car after working all day without being seriously medicated and in pain.

The pain is why i'm selling off my construction biz to work for the gov't and shutting down my auto shop doors to all but close friends or people who just need tuning and fuel work. I'm just glad i got the new job honestly!

What would you do after having done similar things before on one of these cars? AWD convert or Put it back to being mostly factory?

PM me if you need a harness or two. I just stripped a 96 GSX. The main harness' for ECU and the other for all electrical stuff are still intact with fuse boxes and all. If there's anything else you need, I may very well have it.

edit: just noticed you said 2Gb. I'm not sure what would be different from 2Ga (my harness) to 2Gb...

I'm not sure there was any differences, except for the look of the bumpers, reverse lights and headlights, but i didn't even know it was an "A" "B" designation untill i joined here.

can anyone say if a 96gsx motor harness will work in a 97 gst?

I'll PM you later, either after dinner or when we can maybe get an answer if the harnesswillbe the same.

I only need the harness from ECU to engine, the rest is intact still.

CAS and possibly a/c plugs will be different.

If that's all that's different i can have those plugs swapped in a quick minute, I'm a soldering maniac! :D I guess i need to break down and buy another FSM from the stealership here soon anyway, hopefully it will have all possible wiring combos covered in it.
