2G Engine died then no start.

I was driving on interstate down shifted as traffic slowed down. I noticed tach drop to zero but car was running. Then started getting backfire and then turned off. Will not restart. Possible coil pack or crank or cam sensor?

Without any other info I would like to say your power transistor. Your tach runs off it and it also sends ignition signal to your coil pack.

Check your cam and crank sensors and Power trans also there wiring! Any engine codes pop up?

Im on the side of fhe road ive check wiring to and from cas and crank sensor dont notice anything wrong. Im sure I code is thrown however I have a daily cel so not positive.

Make sure they are all plugged in all the way along with the power trans near the coil packs.

Check the wires on the power transistor they get frail and brittle if someone's with you wiggle them and try starting the car. It may just have went bad. I've had that happen to me on the way home from the track. I kept it running and limped it home on the shoulder doing like 25mph the whole way.

Been there and done that with a PT going out. two cylinders died and had to limp the vehicle home...and that was a 25 mile drive doing 60 mph on the freeway. Making stops were horrible-had to keep the revs above 2k just to begin the roll from a stop.

My guess is power transistor. I feel like both ignition coils wont die at exact same time.
