Im getting an engine code p0170 which is fuel trim malfunction (bank 1). any ideas on what i hould look into?

May want to check for boost leaks. If not if you have an afc and a logger see what your fuel trims are at and set them as close to 0 as possible adjusting your afc. I had to lean mine out to get my CEL to stay off. The ecu was trying to lean the car out more than was possible.

The first thing I would check is your front O2 sensor. When they die, the voltage drops to zero and the ECU thinks that you are running lean. It attempts to compensate for this "false lean" condition by adding fuel. Once the FT's (Fuel Trims) get maxed out, you end up with a FT malfunction.

Wait a minute........I just checked your profile and I see 550cc injectors and no fuel control????? If you don't have DSMLink or a SAFC + logger, that's you problem.

It's good enough for 550's or 650's, but any injectors larger than that will take it out of it's correction range. Get some form of tuning control on there as soon as you can!

Hope that helps,

Andy

i'll try the maf translator first then i'll get on afc, but i was reading that the gen 2 translator works better then the afc is this true?
