2G engine bogs/dies when clutch is pressed in

i have a 1999 gsx 4g63 5 speed with an act stage 3 clutch. when at idle not moving at all, when i press the clutch pedal in the engine bogs and if i press it in and out a few times in arrow it dies. when driving, if i let the rpms drop all the way back to idle when i shift then the engines dies. i checked for crankwalk by checking the harmonic balancer for movement when the clutch is pressed in and didnt notice any movement. anyone have any ideas of what could be causing this to happen or any ideas as to what to check??

Sounds crankwalk to me. how exactly did you check? Can you move the balancer in and out by hand without pressing the clutch? You can't move the balancer by hand while the clutch is pressed in, even if this is crankwalk.

i watched the balancer while someone pushed the clutch pedal in and out and then i put my hand on the balancer while someone pushed the clutch pedal in and out. but i didnt see or feel any movement. ill have to try grabbing the balancer and seeing if i can move it.

The pressing of the clutch is solely a mechanical operation.
Assuming there's no added components, it will only place force on the crank/pressure plate.
So the hypothesis of a crank-walk issue is warrant.

But I've had this in the past and it wasn't related. Nor do i recall the root cause.

However you should use a dial gauge indicator to show the minuscule displacement it may have, and compare it to the max allowed by the service / Haynes / x / manual.

Check the wires to the starter, and the ground cable mounted to the transmission.

Make sure all of your connections under the dash are good and youre not kicking wires around under there

do you think it could is be an issues with a neutral safe switch bypass??

No, it does not do anything except disengage the cruise control once the car is running.

Your problem seems to be purely mechanical in nature.

My next hunch would be to replace the clutch master cylinder. That the clutch is dragging and not disengaging causing the idle to drop.

Your problem is complicated, do you have any check engine lights or any other quirks with the car?

And measure.

Would it make a noise if the clutch is dragging? and would the clutch dragging cause the idle to drop even when sitting still in neutral? and i do have a check engine light on and a srs light on. i know what some of the reason for the check engine light is on but i havent ran the codes recently. i have a broke rear o2 sensor, egr delete, cat delete and i didnt wire my wideband sensor to the ecu. and i was told the srs code was because the guy i bought it from had put the stock steering wheel back on when he bought it, because the guy before him had put a aftermarket racing style steering wheel on it, and he never went in and had the code reset.

would i be measuring the moment of the harmonic balancer or the crankshaft itself (removing the oil pan and measuring the crankshaft)?

Get the check engine light codes read at AutoZone and report back what they say. Check engine light for a crank sensor would further indicate crank walk might be a problem

My 97 did this years ago, ended up being crank walk on a poorly assembled new engine. If you have the trans off ever, get a good grip on the fly wheel and push/pull to see if there's excess play. I wasn't able to find it by pulling/pushing the crank pulley if I recall correctly.
