Hello all from a newbie. I have been reading some posts about the 5th gear end nut problem and my 1990 Talon has the same problem. I got the wheel off and found a large crack on the end case. To make it worse the sycro had broke and its keepers were in the bottom along with the wave spring and the keeper retaining spring, all in pieces. So here is my question, what is the difference in a 1990 and all the other models because I am needing to find a new end case and misc. parts. Thanks for any help. :hmm:

Thank you for the link. I dont know what gearset i have but I can tell I will need a new endcase, 5th gear syncro, syncro dogs (keepers), syncro retainer spring and wave spring. I think reverse syncro was also laying in the bottom of the endcase when i took it off to tighten the 5th gear nut. The car has been sitting since I found that all that stuff in the bottom of the endcase. 5th syncro had a third of it broke so i completely removed it. I am not new to gearboxes but didn't know where to find parts for it. Thanks!

Thank you for the specific detail for when I talk to Jacks Transmission for parts! I hate getting it wrong and going thru all the trouble of sending stuff back and getting the correct parts as I here '90 models are somewhat unique.
