They stopped doing emissions in my area, so I went ahead and pulled out the charcoal canister. It had two vacuum lines that went under the intake manifold to some emissions thing and two vacuum lines that went to the throttle body. On the 90 throttle body one vacuum line was on the top left and the other was the bottom one on the side by the tps. If I plug up the vacuum ports will my car run ok? I have heard of people removing all of their emissions equipment and there cars ran ok. This is my goal, to remove the emissions equiptment. What do I need to do to make my car run ok?

Have you referred to the free mods page? It shows you to remove all the rubber hoses on the top of the throttle body and plugging them. I personally recommend using rubber plugs for a 6.5L chevy diesel and the clamps that go with it. They give a tight and secure fit.

but my question is will my car run ok without emissions equiptment, since it was built to run with it obviously. That was helpful though
thanks

Yes it will run fine. The charcoal canister traps fumes from your gas tank and vents them into your intake. The EGR system recirculates exhaust gases into the intake to displace the air causing you to burn it more completly. The EGR valve also has a cooling effect on in the cylinder due to the inert gas that is unable to burn effectively lowering the BTU's in the cylinder.

EDIT: I wanted to add that the EGR system only operates under light load going down the highway. It doesn't operate during idle or acceleration. I hope this helps.

ok so ive been looking for the name or a pic of this part that is connected to what yous call the charcoal canister.. i cant find it nowhere.. its more towards the firewall but low? its coming off the charcoal canister( theres a hose on top then its splits off towards the firewall and goes down to this piece.. what is this part and what does it do?? other cars have it and there is just 2 hoses on my car one with a broken piece of plastic in the one end like it was broken off ... i was wondering if that would b a leak since all my other hoses and emissions are connected... thanx 4 ## time and help.

I have a 2g, 97 gst
