I bought a replacement EGT probe a while back thinking my mine had went out. I went through the bs of getting a bung welded in for it because the old one was to small. I pulled the probe out to install it and found these connectors

That is not the actual photo of course, on mine the male side is fully connected to the probe, and the female side isn't connected to anything.

My gauge requires a positive and signal connection where as this thing says positive and ground. Is this probe useful for ANY gauge or it only for a volt meter type deal?

My research has only come up with things like this:

Did I just screw up and waist some my money on something I can't use?

EGT Gauge type: Stewart Warner 2200 degrees Fahrenheit
Probe type: Maybe comptech? Or autometer? Could me generic.

It is a K type Thermocouple
Possible other use: I bought an adapter to use this egt on my ECU+. It converts a 2 wire EGT to a 3 wire with power, ground, and signal. But I don't know if it is supposed to do positive and negative or positive signal like my Stewart Warner.
