egt question

Hello everyone.I installed a egt probe in my 90 tsi awd on the number one cylinder and a autometer gauge.for a week now this is what I get.start up in the morning and I get nothing.maybe three minutes later the arrow flies up to 1100F.now after 40 minutes of hard driving at 24 psi knocking here and there on my logger I have no change what so ever on my gauge 1100F all the way all the time.now I happen to think that my egt would be way hotter after ripping around doing hard pulls then after its only been idling for 5 mins on first start up but my gauge tells me no everything is ok.while my logger is telling me I'm lean according to my knock, timing curve and my injector duty cycle.any ideas of where I went wrong on my install maybe even though it was straight forward or what could be going wrong?any suggestions are greatly appreciated.thanks

possibly could have got a junk sensor or gauge from the factory, just one thought.What brand is the sensor? if its a cheap sensor that could be it. just my $.02

Oh that sucks I got the whole setup out of my front wheel drive talon when I bought it but I never used it until now.so try new sensor,then move onto gauge?

Is the sender autometer also? If not there may be a compatability issue with it and the gauge.
