So ive been searching but i couldn't really find an answer to my question. I put a block off kit on my car 420a motor but i am running into a cel. how would you get this to go away. I have to pass emissions so this is obviously an issue.

The solenoid is the part that controls the vacuum to the egr valve. It needs to stay on the car and be plugged in to the ecu for the ecu to not throw a code.

do i plug the holes? or just leave it in and call it a day?

No you don't have to plug the holes. It isn't a sensor, it is just a control solenoid. All the ecu is looking for is resistance in the circuit provided by the coil in the solenoid.

so I put it in and it worked i took the car for a nice 30 min drive on the highway just to make sure everything checks out thanks :D.... maybe you could help me with my other issue. I went to go to work friday morning and inside the car on the bottom half of the dash there is a vent just for air flow but i saw smoke coming from it and my headunit wont turn off I have to unhook the battery if im going to be away from the car for a while. what wire would cause this and i cant remember but should my lights be on if the keys are just in without the light switch turned or is that part of the short?
