hey i posted before about the boost problem, my friend brought my car into the shop friday and the vacume leaks are good, he thinks that it is the EGR celanoid.. i have no clue what this is, or where it is at, but i am positive that the car is gettin to much gas when it is warm, and does idles very very low, or not at all when warm, in the mornings before the car is warmed up it runs GREAT untill it warms up and starts gettin to much fuel.. can someone try to help me and figure out where the EGR is and how much labor is envLOLved and how much is it going to cost. i have a 1991 plymouth laser 2.0 turbo stock thanx

First, it's spelled solenoid.

The EGR is bolted with 2 bolts to the passenger side of the intake manifold. It's is right under the throttle body and has either one or two vacuum lines running to it (I can't remember off the top of my head, it's been a while since I've had an EGR on any of my DSMs).

your egr is part of your emissions. if you do not have emissions checks in your state then you dont need it to run. i have all my emissions removed which elimnates alot of problems with having leaks in the vac lines. to get rid of the egr you just need to get a piece of sheet metal and trace the old gasget out on it and cut it out and put it inplace of the gasket. there is a vfaq on it www.vfaq.com and if you search emissions removal you will find posts on how to remove the vacume lines properly with diagrams. good luck

but is the egr still the reason why im not idling at warm temp. or why the car jerks so badly when turbo is positive

EGR is not open at idle or full throttle...

EGR is only open during cruise (if its working properly)

to test if your EGR is bad, apply vacuum to it and it should die or run like shit (at idle)

EGR basically just puts inert gas in the combustion chamber while at cruise so you get better gas mileage helps with emissions at cruise because there is less combustable gas's in the chambers

how do i do what u said, i am totally new to this.

Basically you apply vaccum with a pump

what your doing by applying vacuum to the EGR is opening the egr at idle which will put inert gas into your combustion chamber which at idle should kill it, or just about kill it.

if your idle doesn't change at all after you apply vacuum (up to 25"hg) then your EGR is not functioning normally.

get it now?
