I have been searching the forums for a few days now trying to shed some light on an issue I have. I picked up a 99 ecu off a guy awhile back to dive into the ecuflash game, I've pulled the stock rom off the car, but now I'm getting the message saying it doesnt have the definitions necessary to recognize the rom.

So I checked doublechecked and triplechecked I had the proper definition in the proper folder, then I went ahead and just downloaded all the definitions on the possibility the ecu wasnt truly a 99, still no luck. :banghead:

Then I had downloaded ceddymods 1.9 and have it in my saved roms folder, so I opened that and that seems to open right up. :hmm: So I'm a little confused as to where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

So what exactly is your problem now? You downloaded ceddy mods and now you can read your ROM file, or still can't read it? What I do is put the definition file into every folder of my Rommetadata folder so that I don't have to worry about getting it into the right folder.

I can load ceddymods rom, but when I try to load the rom I pulled off my own ecu, it says it doesnt have the proper definitions. That makes sense to me because I put ceddymods definition in the rommetadata folder, but I've also put every other definiton for every ecu ceddy has done into that folder with no success.

I went ahead and put all the definitions in every folder like you said, but it didnt change the results.

I guess another question I have is, since I seem to remember ceddy mentioning the ceddymod rom is stock aside from his mods, could I just use his rom?

Should the rom files be saved as a .bin extension? I ask because the only .bin files in the rommetadata folders are the ones I've downloaded from ceddy's site.
