Can ecu's be interchanged between FWD turbo and AWD turbo? Is there any difference? I don't know if it'll matter in my case cause I'm trying to swap a 4G63T into my Integra. I've been looking around for ecu's here in the classifieds and don't know if ecu's from AWD or FWD will work. Here are the parts I've collected so far: I have a full engine harness, all the stuff that plug into the harness, a complete guage cluster, speed cable, and the complete stick shift assembly with the cables. I'm looking for a complete 4G63T and a turbo ECU. All the parts I listed above came from a 90 Eclipse/Laser. There's another problem. Isn't the 90 ecu different from the 91-94 ecu? Will I be able to use a 91-94 ecu with this harness? I've seen a ecu pinout and it says to swap 2 wires depending on 90 or 91. Anyone with suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I have a 91 Talon TSI FWD. I maybe able to use parts from it at the meantime if I don't find parts. This can help with some testing.

The AWD and FWD are the same, with the exception of a speed limiter if it has one (I've seen 2g FWDs which "should have" had a speed limiter that didn't). You can easily change that if you need to. I'm not sure if the 90 is different from the 91-94 ECU.

Thanks! I don't see why it would make a difference. I just want to make sure. I'm sure it does if it's an auto or manual turbo ecu.

i have a 90 awd ecu in my 92 fwd ... i think they are mostly the same (turbo mt/turbo at and non turbo) except for the year thing. i know bobby (one of the two guys i traded my car to) swapped out the ecu's because the one that was in fwd i now have was a tuned one or something.

Nope.

1g's are the same way. FWD and AWD turbo MANUAL TRANSMISSION ECU's are the same thing. The FWD AUTO and AWD AUTO ECU's are also the same, but the manual and auto ECU's are different.

There is a slight difference between the 90 and 91+ ECUs...the change is not big but you will have to swap 2 wires...no biggie.

Also the timing maps and once or twice the cams have changed over the years.

Hi,
I've been having a problem with the speed limiter.. I've been trying to find a way around it and came across this post. I was wondering.. if i purchased an 97 AWD ECU and swap it with my 97 FWD ECU, would that work? And would it be a simple/clean swap or do I have to fabricate wires and what not?

Thanks
