Has anyone used the ECU+ that is on the MachV site or heard anything about it? I was just wondering how it compares to the DSMLink?

I was in the same situation but in the end, I went with the dsmlink. The following is a basic comparison between the two:

ECU+
Good: No E-prom needed, no need for a maf-t if you have a gm maf
Bad: Looking at all those graphs at one time may not be so great, you have to do some wiring (it is not a REAL plug and play)

DSMLink:
Good: Fantastic forums, proven engine management for some time now
Bad: Need e-prom ecu (extra ~$250)

I'm sure I'm forgetting something. If you search, there have been a couple of threads before this one about the exact same thing.

I would definitely recommend dsmlink. Nobody can match their tech support, and the program is just so easy to use.

They are both good tuning tools and they both have their pros and cons. I almost went with the ECU+ since it does not require an eprom ECU. There is a plug and play cable for an extra cost which makes the whole deal an easy venture (on installation anyway). The biggest difference that I see is that DSMLINK does not alter airflow in order to compensate for bigger injectors whereas ECU+ does like your run off the mill AFC (or most piggybacks for that matter). It does however, allow the user to adjust timing unlike the AFC. If you're not planning on running injectors bigger than 720's then ECU+ might no be a bad deal. With this said, i'm running DSMLINK :rocks: and IMO the extra dough spent on the eprom ECU is worth it. Good luck with your set up!

I have ECU+ and i love it! full obdII support (OBDI soon), injector scaling now to 780cc i believe, stutterbox/launch control here within the next few weeks, I cant imagine customer support better then Tom's. Of course you can make timing and fuel maps, see all the typical datalogger OBDII info including but not limited to fuel trims, DTC and pending codes, freeze frames of when the CEL was triggered, etc. no need for a MAFT, Dyno simulation, EGT and wideband logging, so much more, check out their website www.ecuplus.com

maybe i should mention that i am doin a 6 bolt swap in my car Complet 1ghead and block
ECU+ do anything there?
i know DSMLink allows you to invery the signal.

I looked at them both origional but the downfalls with ecu+ were you weren't able to log fuel trims or knock. As far as I understand they have included both those features in the new system. Like has been said I don't know how it deals with timing & injector scaling as it is a piggy back system. I also didn't like the fact that you have to hack up your ecu wiring harness or buy the patch harness but with the cost of that its more then the dsmlink package (not including an eprom ecu). For those resons I went DSMLink & would recommend it 100% :thumb:

ECU+ does everything you mentioned and more.

Ive been debating this for awhile my self. I think I have decided to go with the ecu+. From what I understand you will be able to do limited things with a palm in the near future. That way you dont have to have aloptop all the time. Plus I like the built in dyno. It may not give accurate numbers as far as a real dyno, but you can tell loss or gains in tuning without going to the dyno everytime. I cant wait till tax refund time:rocks:

p.s. I will be selling my 95 e-prom ecu in the near future. I will consider trading if someone wants to go dsmlink.

As far as I know you can also use dsmlink with a palm. They have the software just not alot of people use it to my knowledge. It also has a dyno (hp & torque) logging as well as a tonn of other features. You only need a laptop/palm in the car if your making adjustments or doing some logging, I only added this because it sounded like you thought it needed to be in there hooked up all the time.

So do you have to have a Laptop with you ALL the time when driving your car with DSMLink installed? I appologize, I'm sure this is an ignorant question.

Certainly not, but once you get a peek at the information it can bring up in a heartbeat, you'll probably feel naked without it :p

I keep a 50$ laptop behind the seat, so I don't care if it's stolen/damaged, but is always around to check a DTC, or other problem.

One downfall I see that I don't like is that they say that idling will be rough when running 700 or larger injectors. Justin0469: are you sure that it will handle 780's? Is anyone running larger than 700's on here? I'm planning on running 650's and maybe 680's. I may go even higher later and I don't wanna have any problems.

I know beyond the shadow of a doubt it can handle 780cc's, i know there are people with 1000cc with them

Another cool thing about ECU+; it offers full Palm program and support! and dont have to have laptop or palm plugged in to run with either.

ECU+ also has O2 simulator and im sure DSMlink must.

well if you are going to use 780cc injectors or smaller go with ecu+, if you are going for 1000cc and cant afford aem then go with the link----ecu + will run the car better-it has low, med, high and WOT settings every 250rpm as opposed to 500rpm like the link-----you can adjust 15 degrees timing as opposed to 12 on the link----all the graphs the ecu+ has are a pain, dsmlinks datalog feature is better---also rev limit is able to be raised on the link not on ecu+(sucks big time)both support high hp cars---if you are using 780s or smaller go with the pnp ecu+----i run this on my personal car----if you are going wi

if you dont mind telling me how they run 1000cc injectors---i tried----got it to idle, but 0-3500rpm sucked couldnt tune that big of an inj----i even decided to run the maft----set inj on the box to 1000cc and it still sucked---i now have 780cc and it kicks ass----ill throw in the 1000cc and an aem soon-----when the power monster comes knocking at the door

After doing SAFC, ecu chips, pocket loggers, dsmlink, etc in my car..DSMlink is by far the easiest and most complete package for our DSMs.
