Has anyone used the ECU+ that is on the MachV site or heard anything about it? I was just wondering how it compares to the DSMLink?

But this thread is about ECU+ vs DSMLink. Have you used both to give a comparison?

There will be hardly anyone who has run both as both are very complete/versatile systems.

As I see it, ECU+ eliminates a huge flaw in piggy back systems... High timing due to large injector compensation. It will go in and alter the timing and bring it back to where ever your want it. This added to its specific features, makes it the best piggyback out there and fine for anyone who wants a dedicated track car or knows how to tune out injector deadtime.

One problem with ECU+ is not with the unit but the user. Not many of us have the uncanny ability to tune out injector deadtimes associated with the large injectors we like to use. DSMLink makes it very easy. You just dial in a deadtime and raise and lower it until you get your fuel trims in line.

Do you want to raise your revlimit? Do you want a good idle with 1000cc injectors if you ever decide to get a set? Do you want to make your 1320 driving easier with no-lift-to-shift? A good antilag system? Excellent nitrous control, great water/alky control, two stage boost? These are some of the questions you should throw in the mix when deciding between the two. Everything else between the two produces the same results. Great customer service, fuel and timing control, good logging software.

DSMLink goes farther than ECU+, but do you want to ever go that far?

Taken from the ECU+ site:

"Works directly with the GM 3" and 3.5" MAFs to replace the stock DSM/EVO MAS air meter (GM 3.5" not available for EVO - coming soon)"

Does anyone know if this provides the same funtionality of a MAFT? Does this allow a DSM to vent?

ECU+ will allow you to run the blow-though GM MAF without need for a MAFT. This will allow you to vent, yes.

Ita also important to mention that the ecu+ does retain settings even after battery is disconnected completely, something the link has only accomplished on the 1g so far to my knowledge.

If you guys could pick up an ecu plus package for 200 bucks would you do it ? Im debating between this or water injection. thanks

I'd say go for it, that's a damn good deal. I bought ECU+ over DSMLink..haven't tried it yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about it. If nothing else, buy it then sell it again for at least $300. Why are they selling it so cheap??

It is is a local guy who had gotten rid of his car and actually never put it on. I only heard about it as I was picking up a ssqv from him with my buddy. Hes selling this for 200 and an avcr for 150..Im thinking of offering him 300 for both.

My new question is he sais its an older version...Im wondering how old and if to old..can I just down load the updates/ also I have been reading threads back from when the maft was not built in to it yet and as of then ECU+ could not read knock can it now? how about studer box and launch control and raise rev?

I might have to get a hold of tom himself on this one, but in either case Ill pick it up and hold it here.

http://www.ecuplus.com should have all your answers. If not, e-mail the developer, Tom Collins, at [email protected] Dude's smart, he's always given great info & answers.

The features of ECU+ are here. You can go to the 'Downloads' part of the site & upgrade to the latest version.

It can log knock now, it can't raise the rev limit. No stutter box yet, last I heard he was working on it, that was last February.

well thats GREAT to hear about the knock indicator now ! Im deffinately going to pick it up. Im guessing he opend the box and just saw all the wires and backed out. Ill either purchase the plug and play harness or hack up my ECU haha and If i dont like it...maybe sell it for 300 or if anything use it for the maft, I have the mas already. Thanks for the hepl and anynew info is welcome.

If it is the "black box" ECU+, you have to send it up for hardware upgrade. It is the only time you will need a hardware upgrade.

If its not the black box what color will it be and also, whats the upgrade cost? Thanks for the responce.

If its not the black box, it will be silver. I think the upgrade costs $300 now and if you want plug n play, you have to buy the 2g/evo ecu harness from MachV and send it in to Tom Collins. You can email him or post on the forums on the website, www.ecuplus.com to make sure before you get going.

Ok so then the black box will have the knock and all that and If I dont wan to spend the extra on the connection harness it's possible to hardwire the controller in correct ? Thanks

Ah. That is true, I misread the site. Dunno about the cost though. I have no idea about anything related to the black box or how you could upgrade to the silver box, or if you even NEED to..E-mail Tom & ask about that.

If you have the option, just get the Plug-n-play version if you don't feel like hacking your stock ECU wires up. I bought the wire-it-yourself ($100 less) kit thinking I'd save some money, only to realize I didn't want to hack up my ECU wires..so I had to get the patch harness for 120 bucks...so I ended up spending more than the PnP kit costs, AND had to take the time to wire it up myself. :notgood:

Unless you don't mind hacking into your ECU's wiring...then get the wire-it-yourself kit & save 100 bucks.

No, the silver box is the one you want.
