?? MAFT vs DSMLINK ??

Sooooooooo confused....

I've been looking hard into the steps required to install/tune with a GM MAFT . What I dont understand is, the so called benefits from running a MAFT vs DSMLINK. I know the translator is required, but the bells and whistle confuse me. You can set your fuel trims and injector sizes with the GM MAFT, but you can do the EXACT same thing with DSMLINK(which I already have! and has my 720CC injectors burned into ECU ROM) So in turn, can I just opt with the most SIMPLEST GM MAFT availible since I dont need the tuning aspect of it.

If so, can someone point me in the direction of the cheapest MAFT that I can get (keeping in mind I already have DSMLINK)

The nice thing about the gm maft setup, is you can run it as a blow through setup. Get rid of that stock maf. You can keep the settings on the maft as stock and just tune with the dsmlink. A lot do that with the afc2. Leave the settings stock, even with bigger injectors and tune with afc. Or you can do a base tune the maft and do a more fine tune with the dsmlink or afc. hope that helps

There is only one MAFT out there. You could try to find a used one, but unless it's an earlier version (the most current is 2.02) you're going to be paying around $200 no matter what.

Dunno if dsmtrader is still down, but fullthrottlespeed.com and dejontools.com both sell the MAFT.

Question about buying the MAFT. Since I really only need the MAFT for the translation, would there be any problems if I found a used one with an older version of the software? Since I already have DSMLink I dont see why I would need the latest and greatest MAFT.

I'm thinking of venting to atmosphere so blow-thru method for sure. Any problems w/ blow through in an older maft version

No problems with venting blowthru (except for the verbal abuse and accusations of going rice on us) with an older version of the MAFT. Just be sure to leave all the settings zeroed out (including the settings for the injector compensation) and continue to tune with DSMLink.

Its just that, my BOV have such a SWEEET tone right now venting, I don't think I can bare with buying a Recirc kit and hearing anything less.
