I recently got ecmlink v3 and the 97 eprom conversion. Ive got everything hooked up and my computer connects fine to the ecu, but Im having trouble getting the car started.

I have the 97 ecu with the ecmtuning eprom conversion, so I no not need to swap plug wires. Im not sure if I have to do anything else. Im currently running stock injectors and stock maf. The previous ecu was setup for 850cc injectors so I went ahead and set them back to the stock 450s. When I try to start the car it barely wants to turn over. Im not sure if I missed something that needs to be setup in ecmlink or something but if anyone could help that would be great.

Ill attach a log of trying to start the car.

Yea just installed ecmlink and my wideband. The car has been sitting all winter, but I ran it for like 15 minutes about 2 weeks ago with no problems. It seems like it barely even wants to turn over.

Are you positive you installed the wideband properly (including running to the proper ECU wire)? There's 3 white wires next to each other and it's not that hard to clip the wrong one.

Have you checked your battery voltage? That's not in the captured values list in the log.

Also, did you make sure you reattached all the wires you disconnected from the battery to install the wideband/ECU? Maybe you missed a ground or the starter connector or something?

Yes just recheck the wideband. Pin 75. My battery voltage is a little low, but Ive got it on the charger. All grounds are connected.

I was smelling raw fuel out of the exhaust, so I checked the spark plugs and they were pretty wet. I cleaned and dried them, put them back in and still nothing.

I think Im going to let the battery charge overnight and see what happens in the morning.

Well even if you leave the battery charging overnight and tests 12.x volts doesn't mean it is good maybe it doesn't have the necessary CCA to start the car I would suggest to try another battery.
Do the lights dim when you cranking?
Since your profile is empty can I ask what kind of engine you have most important what CAS? That could be another reason.
You last log looks good!

I'm having a very similar problem. Had my car tuned late 2011 on SD, only upgrades were 750cc and a 20G on 12lbs. Ran great until my ecu blew from an electrical fault. Plugged in my stock ecu car started and died accordingly. Just plugged in another 95 EPROM Link v3, can't find the tune but used another and stock tune that worked before and can't get the car to start.

Is hard to help without a log! But stock ECU with SD and 750cc :nono:
If you still have the 95 ecu with link v3 post a log!

The battery is less than 6 months old. Stock 97 7bolt, stock 97 CAS. It just seems to be turning over really hard like the timing is off or something.

Haha I just switched to the stock 97 ECU again just to know it's not a mechanical issue and the car started just fine, obviously didn't idle well.

Here's the datalog file. Any help would be awesome!

I forgot to add that I tried copying the stock files and adjust injectors/speed density settings accordingly. However, when I hit "copy all to ecu" I received an error saying it's not compatible with my current ecu. It was the 2G stock settings, all I can think was that the current program doesn't support the 3.19 firmware files?

 you have a pretty messed up tune!
Out of curiosity why you have locked the coolant temp? and you knock cel at 12 OMG
Other than that I don't see why it's not running? This log is with the 95 ECU right? Do you have a log from your old ECU?

In that case I doubt that your ECU is your problem here!
Have you try to turn over the engine by hand does it moves freely?
Since the car was sitting for so long check for corrosion on the terminals and resistance on the ground wires and the starter.
I hope someone else can chime in here and be able to help you more man!

Hmm :hmm: it ran perfectly fine 2 weeks ago. Ill have to go over everything later today.

With the 97 ecu eprom conversion I do not need to swap plug wire order, correct?

Yes if you have a 97 ecu in a 97 then you do NOT need to swap plugs around!

the Off chance as it is a 97 ecu uave you checked to see if the invert CAS is switched on in link as thats what we have to do if it was a 95-96 ecu in a 97. Just another idea that could be worth checking

Put the stock ecu back in and the car starts and runs fine

But then when I hook up the ecmlink ecu it does this

Im and idiot. Swapped plug wires and it started up right away and runs smooth.

It says on the slip from ecmlink that its a non-eprom conversion. So Im thinking it might be a 96 non eprom ecu? Haha oh well Im just glad it runs now. Thanks for the help!

Car still seems to start a little hard when its cold. Im still pretty new with ecmlink, not really sure what I should try adjusting. I have to crank it for a second or 2 longer when its cold. But when its warm it starts right at the first crank. Even when I had my stock ecu in it would usually start on the first crank cold. Its not that big of a deal but if theres something I can try changing Im all for it.
