Blaat,
Hi,
I wanted to post this question in the drivetrain forum but for some reason I don't have sufficient rights to do so.
Anyway here is the deal:
I'm from the netherlands, and I own a Mitsubishi Colt GTi.
It currently has a 4G93 engine, but I'm planning on buying a 4G93T lancer GSR engine from the USA. It should fit right in since it's the same engine.
But I also want a better gearbox that's why I registered on this forum, you guys seem to be the best recourse when it comes to DSM cars. I first wanted to go for a EVO3 gearbox, but they are very heavy (because of the centerdif) and it has quite short gear-ratio's. So someone on a evo forum adviced to use a Eclipse GS-T gearbox (1995-1996 Eclipse model). Since it's already FWD and it has longer gear-ratio's then the evo and my current gearbox. I want longer gear-ratio's because I'd like a higher topspeed and I want to spread all the power to a longer range to make sure I won't be burning rubber all the way to 3rd gear
I now have a few questions I believe you guys could answer because you know most about the eclipse I'm guessing on.
My current engine bay looks like this:
Is the engine positioned the same way in the 95-96 eclipse model? And do you suppose the gearbox would bold right up (the other guy said it would).
If it will fit I would also like to know the partnumber of the gearbox. And where I might be able to find one, and what a reasonable price would be.
I hope you can help me out, any help would be really appreciated! (PS sorry if my english seems a bit vague at times, that could be caused by english not being my primary language)
