ok so my 97 gst is acting weird. sometime when i drive it it feels like something is holding the car back but when i let off the gas and do it again its fine. also my stock boost gauge quit working when we built the motor but every once in a blue moon it works really weird.

Sound, that you could be pulling timing. Get a logger, and log some pulls.

Go get an anftermarket boost gauge. That will help alot. The stock boost gauge does work pretty funny sometimes, and is unaccurate.

i have a boost gauge i didnt have the money to buy one. we build robots so i took a gauge from one machine and it reads fine on there but just once in a while my stock one will work

ok so im not really sure what knocking, pulling time means please explain

When your knock sensor sees "knock" it retards timing thinking there is a problem. thing is dsm knock sensors are a little "quirky" so sometimes give false readings. if you dont have a logger there is an LED mod on VFAQ Site - Visual Frequently Answered Questions for at least telling if you're getting knock(if you have no logger). knock interpretations can be caused by allota things other then "real knock"

yeah well c i bumped up the compression and my friends said that could have done something but c my bov i have messed up my t28 it makes my motor compression surge

I agree pulling timing off will a lot

please explain
i was driving it tonight and i drove maby 20 miles down the hwy. I set my cruise control. when i got of the exit and went to the gas station and poped my hood my turbo was glowing red and part of the manifold wtf is that about?

Check your intercooler couplings. I had a similar problem to this. I ran a boost leak test and found that one of the piping couplings had a tear on the underside of it where I couldn't see just by looking at it. I replaced the coupling and good as new.

It would be helpful if you listed all your mods in your profile so we know what all you have done to the car.... it would really help. Other than that check for a boost leak like the other 2 guys said.

i have already listed my mods in my new member topic new from Missouri but i have
weisco pistons, eagle rods, 9to 1 compression, arp head bolt and studs, 3gen lifters, ploy motor mounts, 16g, balance shaft eliminator kit crank walk fix stock fule pump and stock injectors

now that you say that my car has been doing that same thing for a while now. but it only does it when it is cold but once it warms up its starts acting normal but i just found a new problem so fixing that soon.

what was the problem? me and my buddys think that it could b a cloged cat so im putting a test pipe tomorrow
