I think it has one to many connections both top and bottom, more spots to leak.
IMO the bottom should be one piece, the top should be two. The ends are NOT beaded.

But hey, pipe is pipe. Make sure you get it flanged for your BOV.

If I would get these I would weld them together so they have would have no chance of leaking.

But I'm still deciding if I should get these or the AltezzaWorld ones with the beaded ends BUT that sharp 90 degree elbow. If I was to get these I'd simply replace the elbow with some smoother steel piece. What do you guys think about this idea?
 
They look like home made with a nice paint job like mentioned above way to many joints and no bead on the ends to hold them togather. Good luck holding them togather after 10PSI. They look nice though.

From the looks of the kit, the thread starter is hard piping the stock ic. You are talking about FM short route ic pipes. Also, if you read the ad it states that couplers and clamps are NOT included for that price. The ends are also NOT beaded, although they look like someone put a spot of slag on there to help hold the couplers on.

I agree that a better solution exists with a little more research and that E-Bay is not always the cheapest or the best.

since your on ebay do a couple searches theres a kit on there. that is the same exact kit as the greddy kit..except chrome. it also has the beaded ends. i think its only $100 too. i have the greddy kit and trust me if i saw this first i would have gotten it..if im not mistaken it was flanged for a greddy too..the blue one you saw..too many pieces

They're actually $130+shipping. Many people are against the 90 degree elbow since it's so restrictive. But I wonder if it's possible to simply replace that elbow with some regular 90 degree steel bend and make it flow better.

The problem with that kit is:
1. That sharp 90 looks as wrong as you can get flow wise.
2. It does not look like a total hard pipe replacement, the part on the far left would be the lower pipe. That horrible 90 would come out of the top of the SMIC. The last would go from the TB elbow and would require a piece of hose to connect the 2 upper parts together.

I would ask how complete that kit is before I bought it. Make sure it is a total hard pipe replacement all the way without any "hose" jumpers.

I was reading the ebay intercooler thread and finally decided i was going to buy one. Can anyone link me up to that one so I can compare??? Also has anyone tried this one out?? Seems like you cant beat that price!!!! Sorry for posting a new thread I can't post in the intercooler thread(it wont let me). Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Just looking at that piping I can't figure out where it is all supposed to go, but it seems like it isn't made for 14b/16g guys specifically. That looks like a piping nightmarewith how crazy it would be routed. I have just looked over the ebay intercooler thread and it was full of brand names and ebay sellers. I would go back and check again if you want the same core.
 
One more concern, at the shop I work at, we have installed several of these on customer cars (they purchased them). Some of them whistle in the wind as the car is moving. VERY annyoing. We've only had this problem on the smaller cores.
 
If you are looking for a fmic for your 2g, Why don't you get the AGP replica on ebay? There is a HUGE 30+ page thread with detailed pics and so on of it, On here. I have it installed on my car (Pics in gallery).. It has shorte route piping and ALOT of people have been getting them and have been having great luck with them. Another member has a 400WHP car and has this fmic installed.
 
hey TALLEN have you installed this kit. with these pipes? do you know how they are routed and if its doable without buying much else or playing it like spagetti
 
Here is the 20 page thread. It looks good but I would worry about the Core size more than the piping itself. I can't believe it is that cheap. WTF.

It looks like you have build your own piping, but they give you different pieces/bends of piping. You read taht long thread and you are still contemplating this? The XS one is the winner for sure. It can't be beat right now for the price. There is no comparison. Bigger better core, piping actually made to fit on a 2g. Sheesh I guess I can even say XS auto is a more reputable brand. How funny is that to say, but there are a lot of us running their kits and will back it up. But if you want to be different, I guess thats where it has the edge. :) BTW if you want numbers, someone has a dyno of 400+WHP on pump gas cali 91 octane. My DSMLink logs are estimating me at around 300hp (DSMLink estimate on HP are close to accurate from people who have compared) 91 pump 20 psi no tune stock internals. I'm sure with a tune I can pump out a few more hp on pump. Who knows on race gas. Yea bench racing, but better than no numbers at all.

I was just wondering how difficult a FMIC this size is to install on a basically stock 2g GSX. My rubber UICP burst and I have to replace it, but shopping around these sets on ebay are nearly the same price as just buying a new UICP. It'd be nice to upgrade it all at once. However, since this is my daily driver, I am afraid of having my car down for a long period of time. I am afraid of the install being too intensive. Would this size of FMIC require a lot of bumper cutting to fit properly? Or would it be pretty smooth? This is the most prevelant FMIC set for sale on ebay, so if anybody has it and has any experience, your input would be greatly appreciated. I am moderately confident in the quality of it, however, it is the install I am concerned about. I don't have huge amounts of time to spend modding, installing and cutting the bumper, I need it pretty smooth. Just wondering about general experience installing FMIC of this size on stock 2g's with the stock bumper.

Also, if anybody knows how well something of this size fits with Blitz style bumpers, that info would be appreciated as well as I am planning on getting that in the future.

there is like a 20 page post about that particular fmic, i belive. search for ebay fmic install, i think there are very detailed instructions to do so, also there is a group buy. page 7 i think check it out.
 
DON'T YOU DARE OUTBID ME!! LoL, j/k, there is a huge thread on here focused around that IC Kit. It's a great kit, for a great price. There is actually a group buy on them for $295 shipped. IF you want more info, just PM me.
 
no one will know how effectively this core is until someone actually tries it out. the pressure drop seems rather high though, 2-5psi @ 35psi boost levels although .2-.5psi @ 15psi is pretty standard.
