Yes i have tried the search, found nothing to specific on what i am asking.....

My problem is I dont have very much money and i know that you can pick up a cold air intake system off ebay for wayyyyy cheaper then some others that sell for nearly 200, i know that you will prolly not get the same gains as one of those but would it be do a good enough job? I mean air flow is air flow right? Im a newbie hence why am asking, your help would be apreciated. thanks :dsm:

that link didnt work for me...i am also wondering the same thing....my friend who has a 1990 laser just bought a cold air intake off ebay, and he should get it sometime this week, so ill let you know if it makes any difference to his car...anyone else know anything about this?

I wouldn't trust any generic, E-bay brand. If you don't have the money, then just save up, you'll be better off in the long run. Just remember, you get what you pay for.

I know the intakes they make for 1G N/T's are crap I had one and it fit like crap and ended up making my own and throwing the ebay one away. Dunno about the 2g ones though

how did you make your own intake??? what did you use? i take it it must work pretty good?

The ebay one's for 2g turbos look and fit exactly the same as any Injen one I've seen.

I disagree. We aren't talking about a turbo here. A pipe is a pipe, and no number of Injen or AEM stickers are going to make it flow better.
Buy a K&N or similar and a cheap pipe for it, or make it with ABS pipe. If I remember correctly, Andre's 'CAI' is ABS/PVC and he isn't having any horsepower problems.

I made mine out of 3" PVC pipe two 45 degree 3" PVC elbows cut to fit, one 3"-2.5" coupler reducer and one 3" coupler. Cut the 45 degree bends to fit how you like. I
ve had absolutley no problems with it melting in the summer heat, and I can for sure bet on it doesnt heat up the way metal piping does. I'm very satisfied with my home-aid $30 intake pipe :)

Agreed. If there is any place to skimp, then the intake is one that shouldn't really cause any loss in power. If you really want, then you can go on DSMtrader and buy a "higher quality" used one for cheap. I like my Dejon Tool intake. It's quite a bit cheaper than the Injen rip-off.

i DONT KNOW WHICH ONE WILL PRODUCE MORE POWER, BUT WHEN ANOTHER DSMER GOES FOR A RIDE THE FIRST THING THEY SAY IS, "WHY DOES YOUR INTKE SOUND SO LOUD" (K&N) I LIKE IT

my friend got his ebay cai, called the "Bomz Racing Cold Air Intake"...it looks like any other, he hasnt gotten to install it yet(his car is in the shop), but should be back within the week, and so should all his speakers/subs/neons....ill keep you posted...

I have two different ones, I have the AEM intake and a cheap ebay intake. To tell you the truth I think the cheaper one actually works better. THe diameter of the pipe is bigger which of course means more airflow. The AEM one is nice since it has a place welded on to it where it bolts up nice, but imo is no way worth what I paid for it $175. Go with the ebay ones, they work just as well and will give you the same benefits.

agreed. if you want to skimp on a mod, do it on the intake and get it out of your system. I have the INJEN intake on my car [came with it ] and it looks nice. filter was fudged on it so i bought a 4" one off of eBay..

looked exactly the same and didn't effect performance at all...

just to quote myself day after day "dude, an intake is an intake. and no, front mount intakes aren't cool "
