Ebay Head

I just Purchased a complete rebuilt cylinder head off of ebay for 260.00. has anyone had luck running these or should i rebuild it? I'm looking for 300-400 hp. thanks guys!

did you buy it from a shop? or was it some ones personal head?
is it clean? rubuilt? or just a used head?

If it is rebuilt then there should be no issue's. If you are worried just take it to a machine shop to get pressure tested and check the height to see if it has been milled. You can easily make 350-400hp on a stock head so as long as everything is ok then go for it.

I was looking at one of those not to long ago and didnt see a problem with. IMO though i would at least have it checked at a good machine shop.... It would really suck to bolt it up and find out its cracked or warped or even bent valves.

you can tell it has been surfaced,the threads have been chased,but it looks as if they just sandblasted it to give it the look of a rebuilt.here is a link of one that i found by the same seller. I was thinking of throwing my own springs and valves in so I dont have to worry. It seems like it is a big manufacturing company,but I dont know if they do quality work. The only reason i bought one instead of taking my head to the machine shop is because i figured it would cost me less this way.

I bought one fro j & c cyl head exchange for my rebuild. It has 600 miles on it now and no complaints. It didn't come with any of the studs installed which was my only complaint.

Mine didnt either a couple of my caps were finger tight also,not that i expected them to torque them but still.

Did it come with cams? mine didn't so I didn't really pay attention to the tightness of the caps.

The only thing i wasnt fond of was the mix/matched aftermarket/oem valves.

But it runs good and was priced well. Plus it has a year warranty provided you don't overheat it.

They move alot of heads there so they must be fairly decent, from the looks of the pics anyway looks to be a fairly nice rebuild.

One member of my local club did not have such a great experience with J&C. The head he got from them was surfaced too far, and still wasn't flat. He also found metal shavings all through the head.WTF

Let me know how it goes if you install it any time soon, so i can purchase one. I hate to drop a 1500 stage 4 head if i dont have to. im trying to keep it stock for my wife but if i have to buy something im going to go all out thanks
