Ebay Fuel Rail

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Our stock fuel rail is very capable of supplying enough fuel for big power. Also, trusting ebay for something like sealing the 37psi is crazy, thats asking for fuel to spray everywhere in your engine bay and possibly cause a fire.

Well saying it is on ebay doesn't make it any different. There are plenty of intercoolers on ebay that work as well as the "name brand" ones. Does anyone know if this works or not, I guess I could be the guinea pig, but a lil help would be nice. And seriously the AEM ones are way over priced.

Why would you want to take a chance on a part that is extremely critical to your car? If the fuel rail fails and starts spewing fuel everywhere, as numlock666 said, you could have a huge disaster on your hands. Most people on this forum do not upgrade their rail because to stock one can handle a lot. There are also very few on here that upgrade it because they actually need it. Most people upgrade because theirs breaks or for the big reason - the 'bling' factor. The ones that do upgrade go with proven name brands such as AEM, Magnus, Venom, etc. I would suggest rethinking your fuel system to what you 'need' and then spend the extra money on some other performance upgrades :thumb:

Ok, well I am going to be staying with the stock rail, I just was wondering if anyone had tried the Ebay one.

I think this is a GREAT question. If it never gets asked then people that need a new fuel rail will know whether or not they have a cheaper option then the name brand ones.

Does it really matter the reason why someone would like to change it?

I don't think it's a GREAT question, but it's an OK one. Most people on this site do not trust and/or like most eBay items. "You get what you pay for."

No, it doesn't matter why someone wants to upgrade the fuel rail, but since the stock one is more that capable of handling what most people will throw at it, your money can be better spent elsewhere. I'm not trying to be mean about all of this, but if it's coming off as that way, I'm sorry.

^^^I agree, but I see a lot of threads on here that are so biased it drives me crazy. The consensus on this forum is that there is a right way to do things and a wrong way. Too many new members get into this frame of mind that there is ONLY ONE WAY TO DO THINGS, I know because I was one of them. I see a lot of posts where people that ask a question that kinda 'goes against the grain' get trampled on because it's "the wrong way to do it."

I understand that this forum is focused on performance and not appearance, but sometimes people jump the gun, especially on a new member, that they're only interested in the bling factor. If somebody wants a fuel rail because it's cheap and looks good, why can't they ask if it works too.

Personally, I'd like to know others expieriance on the ebay fuel rail, because even though mine might work just fine, it looks like someone pulled it off the ocean floor.

I don't mean to rant... thanks for listening.

I have this rail on my ebay car. I have had no problem with it. Looks nice but it is longer than the stocker which caused some issues with my AFPR. Easy fix but the 90 degree 6an fitting is close to the back of the timing cover.

Well, I am glad to see that someone can stick up for the newbs. Thanks for the input, I still don't know what I will be doing but it is nice to know it works, do you have any pics? I would like to know what you had to mod to get it to work. I will be purchasing the AFRP kit from Import Evolution and I already have a 255 walbro and getting some 650 injectors.

I'm not bashing on ebay products. I personally have a $105 29X11X3 FMIC I got from ebay. Also a 2" aluminum Radiator I bought on ebay for $180 also. I would definitely vouch for those items, awsome. But for something as critical as a Fuel rail :nono: it's asking for trouble. Also my main point isn't that it's ebay, it's that the rail in unneeded. Our stock rails can handle enough fuel to supply a GT35R at 35lbs. So, until you want to break into 9's you wont need it.

Nothing against ebay parts, its just that for simple things not worth spending $600 for, ebay is great. Really now, how much does it cost companies to make an IC? Aluminum isn't a precious metal or anything. It's overpriced due to a brand name. I always laugh at people who buy the intake pipes for $300. Its bent pipes! Buy the bends, cut and weld, if you can't weld, muffler shops can do it cheap.

Some people like having a brand name part on their car. It's just the way society works - some brand names are perceived as better parts than others (even though they may be the same part and not even made by the company that's name is on them). Some people see the best in the business running that part and feel that they need to have it. And also, some people just don't have the time or skills to custom make something (such as an intake pipe, as you stated). Sometimes custom work can come out great, and sometimes it can flop. If you buy a part, you know what it's going to look like and most likely, how it will perform. I'm not trying to discourage people from buying non-name brand parts or from shying away from custom work (as both of those are excellent ways to learn and to help the DSM community by finding other options for things), but just trying to show you the other side of it.

I agree. Somethings don't need much R&D. I got the intercooler as well, it cracks and worst case senerio. I run rich with a boost leak. I have the ebay FMIC. with my own piping.

With a fuel rail, worst case senerio is an engine fire. Best case, you run lean and melt a piston or blow nice hole in the motor.

That's the same logic that people use when they go out and buy a brand new car. I could never understand why anyone would want to be the guy that depreciates their car by thousands of dollars in a matter of seconds. Some people just have to have a brand new car so that they can feel good.

I seriously know people that think that buying a used car is like buying a used condom. :D

I totally agree. The one and only reason that I'd buy a new car is so that I know it's in good condition and that no one's messed with it (unlike the DSM i bought :toobad:)

ROFL

Or the ic could crack, and send a nice chunk of ic piping metal into your motor ^__^.

Don't hate, I run an ssautochrome fmic kit too.
