ebay exhaust systems?

PB blaster, a 4 foot breaker bar, and a team of angry gorillas. I can't stand working with exhaust component bolts.

Can someone help me with this install. I have a 95 talon tsi AWD and I cant seem to find install instructions of installing this ebay exhaust. Eclipse 2G AWD DSM Turbo Stainless Catback Exhaust Pipe 4 5"Muffler Tip Silencer | eBay
I want to make sure it is the right one and Ive had it sitting in my garage for several months because I havent had time to install. I also see it has a a flange with 3 bolts but that is not on my Cat? it only has two holes. Any Help would be appreciated.

^^ and it has some similarities to a ebay kit I got for my first DSM. Be careful with instal cause ebay gaskets are crap, you will also have to have everything lined up and then but bolts through all of the holes then tightening them.. ebay kits are notorious for being cheaply made and not always lining up if you do one peice at a time like higher quality kits. once you have everything lined up tighten it down slowly cause I even broke some my ebay bolts.

I love my SR-S I got off of ebay. Not that bad of an exhaust. The resonator is a bit big, I've bottomed out on it on stock suspension. It sounds good too. It was a good price too. No issues yet, and I'm on 8 months with it. Pretty sure Benjyc32 can vouch for the sound. Haha.

Yeah I can! I didn't even know yours was Ebay... dang! and you dont even have a turbo on there to help silence it. is it a headers back set-up or catback?

It's a catback. SR-S R1 3in. Which is big for me. But, I like it either way. Headers and down pipe are stock. And I still have the stock cat.

Having that stock Cat and Header is probably what's saving you from having a raspy sounding exhaust. when I changed mine I did headers and everything all at once and it sounded like :barf:

But IMO I like the way yours sounds. Yours is probably the only one I'd reccomend depending on instalation dificulty.

Does anyone have one of these installed with pictures to see what it looks like?

I would imagine he could run it as a catback too. Just don't install the test pipe. Then you got a test pipe for track days. But to each his own. When I get home, I can upload pics of mine. Though, I'm not all wheel drive.

And Ben, it does have raspy sounds when I run it with OD off. It sounds awesome! Especially letting it coast from like 90 down. It gets nice raspy sound, and pops too. There is a huge difference in sound with OD on and off.

If you are going to do an EBAY exhaust...just get an SRS, it's cheaper and works great. Cost about $100 bux to get it put on...although you can do it yourself.

The thing I dont understand is the 3 bolt flange is not on my cat or even if I delete that cat? Plus that little adapter is too small to replace the OEM cat. I dont want to change the Cat so I am wondering if a muffler shop will cut off the flange and make one that will bolt to the stock cat? :hmm:

its it made of metal.. i am sure it can be cut off and rewelded with whatever flange you need...

if you do not want to replace the cat converter, get a cat back system. If whatever flange you are looking at doesnt match, they can cut it off and put on a new one.

I got a Punishment racing dp and an SRS catback...they cut off the flanges and welded them together, so i have one solid piece running from where the O2 housing meets the dowpipe all the way back...less exhaust leaks to worry about.

I would say don't base the exhaust off of the pictures, if worst comes to worse take that peice down to the muffler shop and hand them 20$ and ask if they'll cut it and re-weld it. don't buy something you aren't cofident in... know what you are buying and if no one has one that can tell you exactly what it is (cause ebay doesn't have enough info) buy an SRS cause 3 people have said to get that if you NEED to get an ebay exhaust.

thanks guys for all the replies. I took it down to the shop today and it did not match up what soever from what I wanted. I had him cut out a resonator in the original pipes and weld a new muffler. The drawback is it is the stock piping but after all this I thought it would be easier to sell it and later on buy me something that has the slot for an 02 sensor and bolt on to the Cat.

The terminology is KILLING me.

Ebay doesn't make parts. There is no "Ebay exhaust". There are no "Ebay gaskets".

It's a marketplace that sells real parts in addition to the cheap, child labor, non-QC'd exhausts in this thread.
