ebay exhaust systems?

I'm still running mine and there is no rust or pitting at all. I have a GST so I'm not sure about if it would fit a GSX. You can email them the question, I did when I was looking to buy.

hi guys! I'm looking for a good catback for my GST. I thought could be better ask here instead open a new thread. Well, my question is about some exhausts on ebay and the over or under the crossmember issue, in fact I'd like to get for my gst the one that goes over the crossmember. I tried sending emails to sellers but they didn't response just one guy but he didn't know, so the pictures are my only reference but I know that many of you have these exhaust and I really appreciate if you coul tell from the picture which exhaust goes over or under the crossmember. This is my possible list:

Those are all over the crossmember exhausts and follow the stock exhaust path. You would have serious ground clearance problems if the exhaust went under the crossmember, especially if you lower the car at all.

Not really.
I have had a 3" custom made turbo back on my GST that went under the rear axle instead of over it and im lowered on H&R springs with no clearance issues whatsoever.

Eh, they get the job done. They can be kind of hit and miss though as far as quality goes. I have heard a lot of stories about fitment issues, and a lot of stories about how they fit great and how they have been using them for a long time.

I've got a question, too. How can it be there are clearance issues on a GST/GS with an GSX cat-back when the GSX-rear axles are at the same high? Or does GS/GST sit lower oem? There's a GSX cat-back on german Ebay running atm and the price is right.

If you bolt up a GSX exhaust on a GST chasis you'll have alot of issues since the GSX doesn't have the "S" shape in the exhaust that the GST has.

A GS/GST exhaust will go over the rear crossmember, and a GSX will run under it.

I wouldent by ebay parts the workmanship isnt there,and like they say you get what you pay for in the car world if it is in your budget i would go hks or apexi

That is not true. Many GST exhaust systems go under.

Well the original exhaust system went over it. Some companies probalby make them go under to avoid the god forsaken rattling that sometimes comes with having a larger diameter pipe going through the crossmember.

eBay exhausts, generally the flanges are NOT stainless steel, and the mid-pipes are usually not stainless either, but the muffler section itself is. This is how they save money. This won't always be the case, but it will most of the time. Actually you will find out that Apexi actually does the same thing, it's not all stainless.

Most other name brand cat-back's are usually full stainless steel pipe, but not flanges.

From there it all comes down to necking down or true full 3" exhaust. Most e-bay ones neck down at the actual cat section. So does Thermal's, while the other systems are generally true 3" exhausts.

I have an Apexi system on my Spyder and my buddy has a Thermal on his GSX and had an eBay on his GST and then switched to a Megan. My other friend has an eBay on his Spyder. Of all we universally agree the Apexi or Thermal sounds the best. We all personally agree the Thermal is of the best quality from the ones we have experience with. This topic has now officially been beaten so far into death that it's becoming a zombie.

Yeah I know that the oem piping goes over the crossmember, but are there big differens between GS/GST crossmembers and GSX ones?

So there shouldn't be a problem when using a GSX cat-back when some GST cat-backs go under as well?

The "S" bend pipe in the FWD exhausts exists to go around the gas tank, as they are different in the FWD models. You cannot successfully use a full AWD exhaust unless you have an AWD fuel tank.

I have no problem with ebay exhaust's, but if i was you i would get a full one for the hp and not just the sound.

i have a 3 inch cat back from ebay on my gst and it doesn't sound ricey at all. I like it and so do all my friends. with ebay you sometimes get lucky.

I purchased the AWD version from the same seller and couldn't be happier. It had no fitment issues and has held up for over 2 years.

how did you get the rusted bolts off the flange, and everything?

For me I used a grinder and then replaced with new SS from the local hardware store. For the nuts on the exhaust manifold studs I used MAP gas to heat up and they came right off.
