ebay exhaust systems?

see again with the "its to loud" see with upgrading you have to make sacrifices to get what you want...its one or the other..

ok hear is what I dont understand is 1. I cant seem to find any exhaust 3" from the turbo back for my 91 AWD talon. I want it to angle a bit like I have seen on a couple of cars in this post and even have the 4'5" out the rear. so am I looking in the wrong spots? 2. If you are so worried about sound then why do anything to your exhaust? cause if you think about it no matter what muff you use its still going to be way louder then stock especially if you remove the cat. I personally like the loud, deep grumble of the turbo back exhaust. I just want the 3" all the way out the rear, to a 4.5" outlet muff.... so any likes will be greatly appretiated.

If you think it is tough to find a turbo-back for an AWD 1G, just try to find it for a FWD 1g :) I wish I could find one of those $200 systems like everyone is talking about, on eBay, for a FWD 1G. The Thermal Research one is quite a bit more expensive.

in my searching on ebay there are several turbo back exhaust on there for the FWDthey are around 300-400- range.

Ok guys today I received the ssautochrom exhaust for 199 plus 40 dollar ship. Got it just in time because they raised the price to 249 plus however much shipping is. Anyways here are pics I havnt installed yet or taken out of wrapper, but it looks just like the gpower exhaust.

I dont get what the "race cat" is like they stated.

By the way for the people that have this exhaust did it come with instructions? All I got was ssautochrome decals and xs power decal.

I'm not sure if what he got is the same as mine. The DP is 2.5 to the end of the flex, and there is no race cat.

Aside from flipping the hanger, I also had to modify the DP inlet flange bolt holes. They won't fit the O2 studs.

What muffler/tips are those?

jm1080: For instructions, look at my post. Search for threads with "Axleback+muffler" in the title...there's only one. I have plenty of instructions. If you need more, post or PM me. EDIT: Link below. Also, it bolts up pretty easily once you fix the DP flange bolt pattern. Remove the stock exhaust in one piece; disconnect the DP and then all the hangers. Leave the rubber hangers on the car. I think it's a bunch of 12mm bolts. Use PB blaster on the rear O2 sensor and use an O2 sensor socket and 1" wrench and rubber mallet if you have to (I did). My O2 sensor socket has a 1" hex head on it so I can either use a 3/8" ratchet or a 1" wrench...I had to beat the snot out of the 1" wrench to break the O2 loose. Also and in hindsight, I think it'd be easier to install the B-pipe and axleback separated...In the how-to thread, I recommend mating them together, then installing, but I think it'd be easier doing each section separately...do the DP first, it's easiest :p Two jackstands will make life easier. A lift and a 2nd person would make it a breeze to install.

Morpherex: The thread I just mentioned has all the details, but as I recall, the muffler is a Magnaflow 12198. The tips are AeroExhaust SR2535 or ST2535 (one model is straight-cut, the others are 15-degree slant-cut, I got the slant-cut). I had to cut the tips shorter. The whole ordeal requires cutting, fitting, cutting, fitting, cutting, fitting, (cutting, fitting), ... welding, sanding, painting. And it'll add another $300 or so, less if you can TIG weld thin-walled stainless. I'm slow, so it took me 12-16 hours of laying on my back on a creeper under the car, staring and thinking...with maybe 4 of those hours actually cutting/grinding/fitting. In other words, it's not bolt-on. But it was worth every minute IMHO.

Thanks kenamond, yea my uncle mechanic so he has all the tools, he said it easy job so im like ok :) ill have your instructions handy as well. Well see how it sounds once its on, if it sounds like crap then i guess new muffler for me and my uncle knows of an exhaust shop so thats good as well.

Thanks, its 3in all the way supposedly havnt measured yet. It looks exactly the same as kenamond, but he states the DP is 2.5 to the end of the flex. Other than that everything else is 3in. I say thats real good for the price :)

Hey Guys,
I would like to order this one as well for my GSX. The thing is I need to get an emissions done. Do you thing I would have a problem passing with this set up?

I don't have to worry about emissions where I live, so I don't know a lot of the details, but this exhaust does *not* have a catalytic converter, and that might mean that you will fail emissions. It might be best if you check you local emissions rules and see if you can even have an aftermarket exhaust. If you just need a cat, you'd have to modify the downpipe (cutting and welding) and buy a 3" high-flow cat.

Also, it was welded on too low, because the flanges are pulled right up to the bottom of the car. There's no rattling because I put some exhaust wrap to pad it, but I'm definitely going to fix that tomorrow. What's worse is because it's pulling up on the piping, the muffler is pointing downwards.

The flanges in front of the gas tank no longer rattle against the bottom of the car. I put on my ebay downpipe and high flow cat, and cut off the flange on the cat end of the exhaust. By slip fitting the piping and using clamps, I was able to move the mid-pipe down so that it didn't "lift" the rest of the piping up against the body. The muffler still points downward and looks retarded, though. Turns out it was welded on that way, and the only way to fix it is to cut it and re-weld it. I wasn't a fan of the muffler and tip anyway, so I decided that to fix it I'm just going to chop off the muffler and put on a different one. As you can see in the second pic, the inside of the muffler is already starting to rust....

as for the people who are complaining about their ebay exhausts... do you think you could say some company names so that those of us who will be taking that risk know what to stay clear of-thanks

Also what stinks ive searched high/low for 1g exhaust and i think most of them dont carry for 1g just 2g is what ive found.

Well i did get a responce back from one of them and they said they are currently out of stock right now.

Curious if anyone know if these exhaust would bolt up to an 2G GSX APEX N1 downpipe. Would be nice to pick up a exhaust system that is full SS and half the price of the APEX.
