ebay exhaust systems?

Hey well thought I would write about how the customer service is when you get one that rusts!
Well I had posted some pictures a few pages back showing how my catback from japan import shop had gotten rusty. I have been dealing with them for a while to get them to replace it or money back or something.
They finally said they would be able to re-place it. Well it was an ok deal for replacement.
I had to pay to ship it to them obviously. They then wanted 65 for them to ship it back to me though. Se between the two it is almost the same cost as buying a new one. So I argued for a while and finally they dropped it down to pay 25 for them to ship it back to me.
That is still not really right as I should not be paying for the return shipping to me, but at least I will get a whole brand new exhaust system from them.

I have not sent the money over yet, as I also need to put down a $150 deposit that I will get back after I send my old one back to them.
Seems like a somewhat decent outcome to this whole long ordeal with them. But at least they are offering me some sort of warranty replacement since it did get rusty and was claimed to be guaranteed to never get rust.

I got an ebay turboback exhaust and I recommend it 100%

Got mine for around $200 for the catback. $100 for the downpipe and $50 for the o2 housing.
There is a massive thread on here about ebay exhausts if you would give it a little search.
Also bumping your own thread on here is not allowed.

Thanx for the answer, the exhaust forums that ive seen are for the 2g, ebay ones at least. This is the first ebay exhaust ive seen for this cheap and still more expensive than the 2g.

i got this cat and it bolts right in. it's a real cat and seems to flow pretty well, it's a 2.5 inch.

It's the one that's 3.5" or called SR*S

Also, could you bolt it up to a aftermarket downpipe using that reducer?

For my 99 GSX...

I just ordered the 3" SR*S N1 Catback Exhaust system from NissanGTRpower on ebay.

Also purchased a 2.75"-3" downpipe (Megan, or atleast Megan style) from TuningPros on ebay.

Will update when I get it, post pics, and describe fitment, and maybe make a sound clip.

I am thinking of getting this setup from ebay:

Exhaust:

Downpipe:

Would this bolt up correctly? Does anyone have the same setup from the same 2 sellers? This will be going on my pretty much stock GST with the T-25. ( All I have is a BOV, intake, and gauges). Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Yes that should work just fine. Did you read my replies in the previous threads?

The thing with sellers such as the one you linked selling the catback, is they dont use the actual pic of the product you get sometime. But we all assume its just like everybody elses.

Your car is not pretty stock after you get your "turboback" This was probably the next mods inline anyways, so it should be fine. Watch out for boost spike/creep after you install it. Monitor your boost. You'll be fine.

Yeah I read your replies. As far as boost creep, how big of an issue could it be? I read something earlier about people porting their O2 housing to help. Is that recommended?

To be honest, I've heard of people run into the problem, I personally have not. I installed the exact same turbo back 3" exhaust on a 2g gst, with the same mods as you, intake pipe, filter, bov, gauges. And did not run into any spike/creep issues. Everything else stock.

I know I'm just jumping in, but... where on that DP does it change to 3". From what I can tell, is it right before where you would bolt your cat on at? If so, wouldn't this be considered more of a 2 1/2" DP??

Also, although it's a concern, I think that Boost Creep issues usually show up with larger turbos that don't have properly ported wastegates and are still running on the stock o2 housing and exhaust mani. On a T25, you *shouldn't* have anthing to worry about.

It looks like that is how all of them on ebay are (even an authentic Megan one). Anyone else have any other input on this? Is it in fact a 2.5" pipe?

Megan Racing DP's turn to 3" just after the o2 flange. Because of this alot of people report that it is difficult to get to the bolts and tighten them properly. The trade off is that you get the truest form of a 3" DP with the ability to bolt it up to your stock o2 housing.

Ok, so how big of a performance difference would there be between the Ebay downpipe and a Megan one?

I have an RRE downpipe. It starts off at 2.5" and enlarges to 3.0" after the flex section. According to RRE, starting the pipe off at 2.5" inches doesn't reduce flow of the exhaust gases and has other benefits. The flex section on my downpipe started to leak after a couple of years and I replaced it with a full 3.0" flex. It barely clears my oilpan. Quoted from the RRE website: "Our DPs have a 2 1/2" stainless steel first bend with a 2 1/2" stainless steel flex section. They then expand to 3" right after the flex section right under the oil pan area. Why start out at 2 1/2"? If you are running on the stock O2 sensor housing, even ported it is 2 1/2" inside diameter. When the exhaust gasses are hot, they flow better, 2 1/2" is plenty for the first 12". As the gasses cool , bigger helps. By going to 3" after the flex section, we allow this expansion and also allow for better clearance at the front where room is tight."

I got the downpipe from Tuningpros

It was a Megan 3", didn't fit O2 housing, had to take out studs and use nuts/bolts.

It now rests against my oil line, hoping that won't be a problem.

The catback fit decent, and sounds nice and quiet, yet good toned.

Only problem was it comes with a stupid 2.25" adapter, so I hadda go to Meineke and get a custom 3" adapter made for $30.00

Megan said they are coming out with a revised GSX downpipe in a month, and they will replace mine when the new ones come in (New = neck down for clearance for nuts, bolts, oil line, transfer case, etc etc)

I got a Apexi WS2, Tuning Pros DP, O2 housing, and OBX catalytic from eBay. They all worked out great. The downpipe was cat eliminating so I cut it and made it smaller so i could put a cat in (which is required where I live). My overall satisfaction is 100%. :thumb:
