ebay exhaust systems?

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

Any one have just the cat-back exhaust w/o a DP. I don't have the cash for a DP right now so if anything it will be bought awhile from now, I just wanted to get some feedback on just putting the exhaust on at the cat.

If you look to the top of the page you'll see that I posted a link to a short clip of my catback exhaust. I am turbo though, so wouldn't be the same thing for you. I really like the sound though, but won't really notice much gain I wouldn't think till I get my downpipe bolted up.

imo ebay fart cans are a waste of money.

Apparently you don't understand what a "fart can" is in the tuning world. Please don't buy another dsm, I'd hate to see it go to such a poor home. Because anyone who thinks there is anything remotely high tech or sophisticated about an exhaust system is a fool.

I got my "waste of money" catback, ("fart can" equipped) from japanimportshop.

Only had it for a couple months, have nothing to complain about though. Sounds good, stainless is still rust-free, welds look good. Fitment is near perfect, bolted up quick. The note of the exhaust has changed slightly since it was originally installed, still sounds smooth though.

JMasc, why did you make such a useless post? If you are going to make a statement like that, please go into detail on why.

This thread has everybody against you favoring the EBAY systems. If the EBAY systems are what you call fart cans, then so are all the brand name ones out there, Greddy, Apexi, HKS, etc etc etc, most if not all have 4" tips. But you pay twice as much if not more, which makes those not fart cans?

Seems to be the logic that you have, excuse the inaccuracy as we are just trying to dissect that post of yours.

So many idiots out there who think "Ebay" is a brand. It's not, it's a marketplace. If you buy something that is crap on ebay it is your fault, no one else's. Just like if you buy something that is crap at Walmart or Best Buy.

Just want to let you guys know I finally got the time to put in my 3" downpipe and the exhaust sounds ten times better. I will post a video as soon as I can.

I got my japanimportshop exhaust in last week(or 2 weeks ago?) i havent put it on yet, but looks reeeeealy shiny ;) looks liek great quality.
AND UPS only charged 40 bucks for duty fees, which was great because I was expecting 3 times as much (Last thing i bought from the states was 100 dollars, had duty of 60)

Cant wait to get it on :D

Oh, and I didnt notice any part number on the exhaust, I will look over it again for you when I have some time.

My exhaust rattles once in a while near the back with this system. Does anyone else's rattle at all? Mine usually doesn't but at certain rpm's or when idling once in a while it does. I was wondering if anyone's that does has used urathane exhaust hangers and had it stop the rattle? I know they should be much more ridgid and I would hope that they would cure my car of the occasional annoying rattle. Let me know if anyone has used them before with any luck.

I am using my factory soft rubber hangers. Mine would make all sorts of rattling sounds in the rear, especially when the engine was decelerating at closed throttle between about 5500 down to 3500.

It had nothing to do with the hangers, though. It was some loose jack tools in my spare tire well. Wrapped them up and the noise is gone.

Mine is definitely my exhaust hitting a little bit. Was a very tight fit so I feel lucky that it is not constantly rattling.

what is the difference between these two they are both from japanese import the 1st is N-1 and the 2nd one is n-turbo blitz.. do they sound the same or whats the difference?

Hmm, pretty interesting since on both pages it says "WHAT YOU SEE ON THE PICTURE IS WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO GET." They are knockoffs so they try to copy the style of the original but beats me why it says you see what you get when they both have different titles. Unless the originals look the same..? But I say email them. I did a couple days ago questioning whether their exhaust are 100% stainless steel or coated. They replied the next day. (said it was stainless steel by the way :D)

Well regarding my warranty replacement or what ever they are going to do. I have sent out the item number and pictures to them and they have said that they will resolve this shortly. Don't know what they will offer for a resolution but they said they will in the next day or two.
For those who don't know this is in regards to there being rust on the "stainless steel" exhaust I bought from them. I will keep you posted.

Damn bro.. that sux yours is already rusting.. I've had mine for a little over 3 months, and it rains here in Hawaii a lot.. so far so good because I don't have any rust... I was just under my car a couple days ago installing my TRE race tranny...

Do you have surface rust on there, or is it the type of rust thats eating your exhaust system up?? I know that even stainless steel gets surface rust..

Let me know how they are on customer service as far as replacing them.. All I know is that after you give those ebay guys a positive feedback, they turn around and sh*t on you if you ever need help with their product... :( :notgood:

Good luck bro, and I'm sorry you're having problems with their exhaust...

Mark

You won't find one that is stainless steel coated or this is somehow "fake" stainless steel. What you find is that they are likely made from the cheapest grade of stainless steel available and have not been passivated to prevent oxidation of iron particals on the surface. Mine was a bit tarnished this spring but a treatment of naval jelly and metal polish brought it back.

I bought a "tseudo" SS exhaust off of ebay, a N1 knock off, that was the name brand that all of the importers were selling at that time.
I Bought a cat back and a 3 inch down pipe. Then bought a magnaflow 3 inch high flow cat. Cut the downpipe and and inserted the cat and had it welded.
This setup was less than $400 total and has held up great! It sounds good, flows good and has no rust anywhere.

Looking at what is sold on Ebay now, most of the pictures show the welds in the SS rusting, they obviously are using the wrong welding rods. Don't know if I would buy one unless they warranted against rust.

Did you bring it to an exhaust shop to have them fit the cat on there, and then cut the neck down starting on the catback? Also how bout the o2 bung, didn't cutting the straight piece of the downpipe also remove this.. or did the cat come with an o2 bung already on it. If you did have a shop do it how much did they charge?

I'm going to help my uncle out on his setup and do something similar.

We're in cali so we need to have a cat in place, we're going with the n1 knockoff catback, and an ebay 3" downpipe, and a 3" carsound cat from ebay.

I don't want to just weld the cat in place, but flange it so it can be switched with a test pipe if need be. Then cut the neck down when the catback starts, and have an o2 bung installed if not present for the sensor.

Ok well I ordered the N1from Japan Import shop. A few days ago, is there anything I can do as soon as I get it to help prevent rust? Because I know I'm going to do a little bit of cleaning underneath my car when the exhaust comes in because I saw a bit of rust. Any recommendations of rust removers and protectors? Rust-oleum can be sprayed on the new exhaust?

I also dont plan on leaving them feedback for a few months. I want to see how it holds up. A lot of people think fast shipping and a nice shiny item deserves positive feedback. But gotta wait a bit and see if the quality is good.

Dip it in a tank of phosphoric acid.

Don't have one? Slopping some coca cola on there might help it's doubtful you can provide enough exposure time to do much (no, don't go filling the bathtub with soda). Probably about the best you can do is polish it up with a good metal polish.
